I woke up this morning. My back was a little sore, but I’m good. Took my morning crap; got ready to take my dog on a walk. Walked outside. I had to unfurl my Bears flag; it looked like it got beat up pretty bad last night. It’s fine now; wind starting blowing, flag was flying. I checked the standings: Bears have a 5-2 record; I’m pretty happy about that. Not too bad for the season being halfway done; of course, there is work to do, but contrary to popular belief, the season is NOT over.
Did you really expect the Bears offense to look good last night against a really good Rams defense? I did think the Bears would win last night, largely based on the play of the defense, as usual. I did think the offense would score at least 1 TD… But I was not expecting the offense to finally click; you know Nagy is not going to give away our secret playbook of our high powered offensive plays on Monday Night Football for a national audience to see… he does have that right? Yes, the Bears offense looked like it has for most of this year; they were crappy. The Bears defense couldn’t hold the Rams completely down. The result was an ugly loss. I’m moving on from that one… asap.
Well, let me just say one more thing. Papa Vegas got us hook, line, and sinker. Rams -6 coming off a bad loss to the Niners, playing against a Bears team who has played them well; if it smells like a rat… Yeah, and the fricking ahole vegas controlled zerbras helped execute the trap. There were some questionable penalties called, and of course, the standard holding penalties against our D line that were not called. Coming out of the 2nd half it was pretty obvious what the game plan was here. That pushing the pile play… total BS. The refs blow that dead 10 out of 10 times; they did that exact thing in this same game! Yeah, I’m not a big conspiracy guy, but I do believe there are some things that are written. And if you fell into that trap, I understand why you’re that much more angry this morning. That’s OK… it’ll be OK… moving on…

Tell me why they shouldn’t? What can you do mid-season to improve an area of your team that is impacting the entire play of a unit? Well, that Bills guard got let go; that couldn’t hurt. Neither could inviting a couple dozen 300 pounders with some previous offensive line experience in to see what they got. You want to bash Foles? He didn’t look good; funny enough, he looks like Trubisky. Is it either of their faults? Sure, they play a part, but… one thing I’ll tell you, this continuing development will earn Mitch another chance somewhere; news flash, it wasn’t all his fault. You want to dog Montgomery and the running game? Well, you try running with no blocking. Unless you’re Walter Payton in the late 70s, you’re going to need some help from the O-line. You want to blame Nagy for the play calling? Sure, there are some plays that I would like to see discarded; I would certainly think the offense could do better than THIS… but how much better with a horrible offensive line against a great defense? This is a problem. How we address this going forward, how we work around this, how we improve our offensive performance in spite of this, will determine how the rest of our season will go. Nagy you’re smart… figure it out.
Yes, the Bears looked like who everybody thought they were on national TV; the worst 5-1, now 5-2 football team in the league. You’re never as good as your best win; you’re never as bad as your worst loss. The Bears have some work to do on offense; this is no shocker. The Bears still have an outstanding defense that will win us some games. What will this all add up to? Well, no matter how good the defense is, if the offense doesn’t play better, it won’t add up to a whole lot. We need to get this figured out sooner than later… the Saints and Titans are waiting for us the next 2 weeks. Time to really Bear Down!
