The turning point in the Bears season happened yesterday, when the Cutler benching was announced. Remember, this is a big ship we’re trying to turn, and big ships turn slowly, but this is the first of many moves that we will hopefully see out of the Bears before they take the field in 2015.
I’m happy that SOMETHING happened. Now we’re about 2 months too late on this first something to happen, but later is better than never. The changes should have began after the Green Bay debacle. Mel Tucker should have been fired then. Yeah, he would have been a fall guy, but somebody needed to be. Firing someone would have shown the rest of the team that we’re not messing around. Instead, we let this thing fester. Week after grueling week, with NO CHANGE!?! The special teams coach should have been canned too at some point. Heck, even Trestman could have been fired at some point… he wasn’t, so now he gets to do this.
This has to be 100% Trestman’s decision. With Emery hanging him out to dry about the Kromer situation, it’s obvious that someone Trestman thought had his back, didn’t. By not benching Cutler to this point, I believe it was all about Trestman trying to have Emery’s back. Well, surprise, surprise. It’s cover your ass time, and guess what, it’s too late. With this latest chess move, Trestman is putting the Cutler problem squarely on Emery. Yes, he’s been owning up to some of the problems, finally, but let’s read between the lines.
It’s not going to matter at the end of the day… at least it shouldn’t. Everybody should be finished here, from Emery down. We won’t get into the whole Phillips and ownership debate at this point, but everybody else should be outta here. Trestman and his whole staff will be canned. Emery should try to do that as soon as possible in an attempt to save his ass. But as soon as that is done, Emery should be canned. It appears as though the wrecking ball is a coming, and that makes me very happy. It’s something that needs to happen. It’s something that should have happened a long time ago. It’s something that will help get this thing better sooner than later.

So back to the Million Dollar Baby… I couldn’t be more pleased. Is it all his fault? Obviously not, but he is a big part of the problem… always has been. The Coach Killer has finally been disciplined… again, something that should have been done a long time ago. Is this the end of Jay in Chicago too? It has to be. It should be. It better be. I’m not sure what the best option would be here, the least expensive option, but let’s hope for a second…
Let’s find somebody who needs a QB. Yeah, we’ll probably have to eat some of the contract, but that’s OK. Let’s find somebody who still believes in the potential of Jay Cutler. Let’s find somebody who still can focus on his cannon arm… his raw talents, that to this point in his career, have never panned out to anything. There’s got to be somebody out there who still buys this right? We’ve bought it for so long… it’s pretty clear looking back over the years, that Jay has been more a part of the problem, than the solution.
What system is right for Jay Cutler? He’s had like 4 offensive coordinators, yet one by one each one has been shown the door. Yeah, they must have all sucked. Well Jay hasn’t had a defense? Excuse me… minus the last 2 years, the first 4 years Jay has had a really good defense. Well his numbers are pretty good this year? If you’ve been watching every game, experiencing the pain as I have, you’ll know that most of this good QB rating, most of these yards and TDs, have happened in garbage time. That’s the truth. But he hasn’t had an offense around him…. Any QB in the NFL would die for the offense that the Bears have built around him. Yet, he cannot succeed with them. I can go on and on here… but please, please, don’t give me any more damn excuses for Cutler. He’s finished, and hopefully has played his last game in a Bears uniform.
I feel good this morning. I’m happy that something has been done. I wait anxiously.. no, not for Claussen’s performance on Sunday, although that DOES give me a reason to watch. No, I wait anxiously for the next shoe to drop. Who will be next? At this point, we’ll most likely have to wait until after week 17, but with this act, this benching of the “franchise QB”, it appears as though change WILL actually happen. And for that, I couldn’t be happier.

While I agree with the benching, and that a house cleaning might be necessary, so what? Big deal! Cutler doesn’t care if he sits or plays, his bank is gonna get the same HUGE check every month either way. He’ll just get these next couple of them for keeping the bench warm. Of course, that is where he spent every second of each game while he wasn’t actually on the field. So, the position should be nothing new to him. And now, he won’t get to point fingers at a receiver that ‘ran the wrong route’, or put his pouty face on display for all to see when he throws a pick or gets sacked…… The Bear fans and season ticket holders put out millions of bucks to see this grown-up little kid play the game that most of us only dream of…….and he wasn’t worth my salary while he was out there, let alone his!! DUMP HIS ASS

The Bears paid Cutler roughly One Million Dollars per turnover this year.
I’d be happy to throw two or three interceptions and fumble a couple of times for that kind of compensation.
