Just saw the NHL schedule; hockey in August eh? There is the potential of at least 5 games per day from August 1st to August 9th. Well, hey, we were missing live sports; this should be a good dose.
Of course, we hope the Blackhawks beat the Oilers. Given a second chance to make something out of this season, do the Hawks really have a shot? Sure why not. Would you rather them lose to get that 12.5% chance at the #1 pick? Never that. Will you be tuning in for each game? I guess it depends on the times of the games. The first game is on Saturday; that won’t be an issue. The rest of the games will be during the week, and although hockey all day is pretty cool, not sure where the Blackhawks games will be slotted. Should I plan to take days off now? Maybe some work from home days at least…
Who would have thunk it? Watching the Hawks play in August. We know if they’re playing in the summer, that usually means a good thing. They’ve never played this late… or early depending on how you look at it. It will be interesting for sure. Although hockey is definitely a contact sport, with the equipment they’ll be wearing… gloves for everybody, adding a visor to their helmets, they should be relatively safe, no? Although the cases continue to climb, more in some places than others, you just have to continue to be smart; is playing sports smart at this point?

Of course I’m ready to watch them; we’ve been over that. It’s not worth somebody’s life though… is this really a life or death proposition? If that was the case, me and my family would never leave the house; we’d have to get my son fitted for a bubble suit. Hey, I thought I wasn’t going to get into this.
It’s a whole new world no doubt, at least for the right now and foreseeable future. How will sports look without fans in the stands? Weird no doubt, but I’m thinking we’ll get over that pretty quickly. I’d much rather watch live sports that mean something instead of another old Tour de France race…
So only 21 more days to wait to see the Blackhawks play another game. Much more to talk about as we get closer to the date. I checked for the odds, and didn’t see them; I’m sure they’ll be out soon. The Hawks will be dogs for sure, but that’s OK. Just the fact that they’re back playing meaningful hockey, just the fact that sports is returning, is more than enough for me. Go Hawks!
