You think it’s bad watching this Bears team on TV? Try going to see them play. That way, you can be that much closer to the embarassment that is the 2014 Bears.
Had a blast at the game; it’s always awesome to go, and when you don’t get to go too often, you savor it even more. The game kind of snowballed, with multiple people I knew in attendance… great to hang out. I’m glad that went well, because the action on the field didn’t. It was a disaster from the get go, just like we all knew it would be…. at least should have known at this point. Why do I still keep a particle of hope deep down in my heart for this team? It certainly isn’t in my head…
There were Saints fans in attendance, some of them defending Drew Brees’ birthmark, while others were doing the who dey, who dey Saints dance… I politely informed them that the Saints still suck, and “screw” them. I have to direct some of this anger somewhere. I wanted to go down to the first row behind the Bears sideline, and heckle Cutler. As he walked off the field after a 4th down miss late in the 4th, I just stared at Cutler… as he walked off the field head down. If looks could have killed, Cutler would have been dead at that moment.
Why are we so bad? This has been the riddle since the New England game. We all have reasons… we all have suggestions on what to do next. Why do I feel like the actual people in charge don’t have a clue? This is what happens when NOBODY is held accountable. The ship has been put on auto-pilot, crashing into one iceberg after another… we’ve hit a lot of icebergs this year. Mercifully, this was our last nationally telivised game. Painstakingly, we have 2 more games to go.
Nobody has done anything about anything. This season went south months ago, and yet NOTHING has been done. Are we going to have to wait until the day after the final game of the season? When will the bell toll? Who will be the casualties? What is the plan for 2015?

It’s just amazing to me how bad a team can look. Offensively, against the 31st ranked defense, we did squadoosh. Not only do struggling offenses have field days against our defense, we help out struggling defenses too. 0 points through the first half?
It pains me to continue to write about this team. I so want to forget about this year, like a nightmare, like it never happened. I want to wake up and find out that we’re hosting Buffalo next Sunday. I want to wake up and remember how I felt before this season started… like we had a real shot this year… like we were darkhorse Super Bowl contenders. Then reality hits… and hits… again and again. The reality that this Bears team sucks.
It hurts because I love the Bears so much… to see this happen to them. It’s their own doing though. It’s all in their control. There are people that can make decisions to make things better… or at least less horrible at the moment. Do these people love the Bears as much as we do? What is their priority? It certainly doesn’t appear that we’re on the same page here.
So the game went on, and the focus was more on the conversations with family and friends, then the field. It felt like a preseason game… that didn’t mean much. It looked like a preseason game, with half empty seats. Now only if that really was a preseason game, and this season was about to begin… instead of the nightmare that we are living…

2014 Bears=joke of the nfl
A great time hanging out and being so close to the action, but another heartless, prideless, waste of talent, effortless performance. And of course, nothing is done about it. I sure hope something is done after the season because changes are needed, and have been, for about 6 weeks already. Everyone sees and knows it, but the Bears have done nothing for whatever reason. Lets hope that changes sooner than later.

Just curious…was that you on TV with the bag over your head and no shirt on??
No offense to anyone, but I laughed often and loudly during the game last night and then again this morning as I read and listened to commentary. Your “crashing into one iceberg after another… we’ve hit a lot of icebergs” is a serious contender for the most entertaining–hope you intended it to be stimulating. However, the winner (so far) has to be a woman on the radio this morning who said that she cleaned the toilets in her house rather than go to the game or watch it on TV (she and her hubby have season tickets and skipped the game–at least that is what she said on the radio.)
As for next year, I fear the worst. Trestman will be gone. Emery threw him under the bus by saying that Emery himself had no authority to dismiss Kromer. Kromer is obviously gone as is Mel Tucker. The Emery interview strongly suggests that Emery knows that he is in serious trouble too. All of this seems inconsistent with the Halas/McCaskey legacy of being gentle with the hired help, but I suspect that a recent sharp dropoff in sales of Bears merchandise (this is a guess on my part, but I’d be shocked if people are buying any Bears stuff right now) and the empty seats at the games tells the McCaskeys that the value of the franchise is declining, and that is specifically due to the “product” on the field. That, however, is not the “worst” that I allude to. The worst is that the coaches and management etc will all disappear but Cutler will be back as QB next year. Then Jay can destroy another set of coaches over the next five years or so before he retires and buys the team from the McCaskeys for just a couple hundred million (down from a value of probably about $2 billion or so at the beginning of this year—that is just a guesstimate based on the “value” of the LA Clippers). If this scenario occurs, I will become a Packers fan just to spite the McCaskeys–not that they will even know that I exist.

Oh, and sorry, but I forgot…
Since Trestman and the rest of the coaching staff are history, they should see if they can light a fire under the team by starting David Fales at QB for the rest of the games. Let’s see if this young guy can do anything in a regular season game. Let’s see if he can bring some enthusiasm and leadership to the field on game day. The games don’t really count any more, so why not??

Welcome to my world of watching a dysfunctional organization, I can tell you if the right people are not hired to run the team the dysfunction will never end. You can’t blowup the building every couple of years that don’t work and it all starts with a competent owner.. 12 years of Just lose baby ends next year, the Carr as been started next year we ride it all the way to the Super Bowl. Go Raiders!
