January 20, 2020: Boylen Talks

What can you really say game after game, loss after loss? Seriously… it has to get old. Enter Jim Boylen after another Bulls loss on Monday against the Bucks.

Hard fought game… we competed… game plan was solid… need to make open shots… defense was good… they have a good team… so do we…. Stop me if you’ve heard this before or some variation. 29 losses and counting now for our Bulls. I bet Boylen dreads speaking to the media after each loss. I wanted to give Boylen a chance, but he’s just not very good, and comes across that way whenever he speaks.

In between all this “coach speak”, he talked about the specific game plan to beat the Bucks. It went something like this: teams that have beat the Bucks have shot an average of 40 three pointers and made 17 of them; that’s a 42.5% clip. I didn’t check the numbers of the Bucks opponents; I’ll trust Jimmy. As far as the Bulls numbers, they averaged just over 12 made 3 pointers per game on just over 35 of them shot per game, good for almost a 35% clip. So the game plan was essentially take more and make more 3 pointers than we typically do? Really good stuff JB…

Not only this, they can now tadalafil best price pick an alternate among the tablets, jellies and soft tablets. The stats are the stats; they are helpful and should be used to help make decisions. I’m not sure that’s exactly what Jim is doing here. I’m not going to tell you what he should be doing either; I’m not the coach. What I can tell you is that there needs to be more to it than just that… there’s got to be more than just that, right? I mean, to hear stories about the coaching staff telling Coby White to stop taking mid range jumpers and more three pointers although the mid range jumper is one of his strengths because three pointers are the way to go???

Maybe Jim is just done with the press conferences. I mean, what is he supposed to say? The Bucks are better than us both with their roster and coaching staff, end of story. I’d love to see Boylen go off the rails on one of these repeatable post game press conferences after another Bulls loss. Like, what do you want me to do guys? I can only work with what I got. I can only instruct them with the highly detailed game plan and focus on the development of both the individual and team. I can’t play the game for them. These players are soft, and are both unwillingly to listen to my brilliant schemes and not talented enough to execute them. Why did I take this job? Couldn’t Lebron have called me up to be one of his assistants?

It ain’t easy being the coach of a losing team, but I still say that this Bulls team could do just as good or bad with no coach instead of Boylen. I mean, they can’t do much worse… Are we able to credit Boylen for some of those 16 wins? Are we able to blame him for all of the 29 losses? No & No I think. How much does a coach play into it? There has to be a coach out there that can play more into it than what we have today. And oh yeah, the Bulls extended him… and oh yeah, the Bulls paid Felicio big money too… and oh yeah, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I’m fricking depressing myself here…
