December 4, 2019: Medal Time

Here it was; Wednesday December 4th… playoff time for my son’s basketball team. But first, it was medal time for my wife. Yeah, let me brag a little bit. She’s about to graduate college; very proud. Wednesday was a special ceremony for the students graduating with honors. I looked at the book of names, and saw the bronze medal recipients, then the silver… I had to look in the gold section for my wife’s name. When I showed that to my son, he was pretty impressed; so was I. Only “problem” was this ceremony was scheduled the same night as our playoff game.

I immediately chucked it up; no matter what else was going on, we were going to be sitting in that auditorium. I did think we’d be able to make it to both, but as the ceremony was about to begin, I didn’t think it was possible. I prepped my son, telling him we may not make the game.

We got some good pictures and a little video of the medal presentation. It was a really nice ceremony. It was followed by a reception; not a bad spread. Some hamburgers, chicken tenders, macaroni salad, wine, cookies… OK, OK. We enjoyed some time there before we wrapped it up. We’d have to get across the city in about 40 minutes to make the game; it would be close. We did end up making it, showing up 5 minutes before the game was scheduled to start. Of course, I knew it would be delayed, just like every other one of our games this year. But wouldn’t you know, this one was starting on time. We had to scramble a bit, getting my son ready to play. The entire team showed up for this potential final game of the season for the first time in over a month. I was happy to see that, and I was happy that each kid wanted to play every minute of the game, but I needed to talk them down, and rotate throughout the game.

They were everywhere – pfizer viagra price I’d spend half an hour every day. Thus, one frankkrauseautomotive.com prices cheapest levitra should avoid taking heavy or fatty meals. The game started close; in the 2nd quarter, it was a 4-1 deficit. I think we can actually do this. I know I told you I believed we could, but now I really believed it. Even though our shots weren’t dropping, we were playing good defense, we were getting rebounds. Then, their shots started falling; ours never did. 18-3 was the final score in this our final game of the season. After we shook hands, I was ready to do one last huddle with the squad, but the park folks were calling us; it was medal presentation time for the kids. We got a good ovation, and each kid got a medal. Even though some were hanging their heads, including you know who, everybody cracked a smile when they received their medal.

Two medals in one night for the family; not a bad day at the office. Proud of both of them: my wife for her long journey to this accomplishment and my son for playing his butt off this year against the older kids with a regulation basketball and a rim at regulation height for the first time. Very good night for the family; the BIG day is coming soon for my wife…
