November 9, 2019: Saturday Night Losses

posted in: Blackhawks, Bulls | 0

It was back to the losing ways for the UC roommates.  The Blackhawks blew an early lead and lost in OT in Pittsburgh, while the Bulls followed the script and lost to the Rockets at the UC.  That was fun.

Thankfully, I didn’t see much of either game.  I did flip on the Blackhawks game just before the shootout began.  Crawford is usually pretty good with those… which the announcers echoed… then he promptly gets beat 5 hole to put us behind after the first shooter.  Toews looked like he didn’t know what the hell he was doing; what happened to his trademark 5 hole shootout goal?  Maybe they’re on to him?  Anything would have been better than what he did in this one.  Crow saved the next one, which allowed Kane to tie it up with his shootout goal.  No more of the slowdown, chop, chop, chop, chop, fire… he glided in, slowed, and fired.  Nice goal!  However, the Pens came right back and beat Crow again.  It was a very nice shot, I’ll give them that.  Still, shootouts are supposed to be Crow’s expertise…  Alex had a chance to tie it, but did not.  At least the Hawks got 1 point…

Meanwhile, I flipped on the Bulls game right at the end of the 3rd quarter.  I got to see the score by quarter…  After being only down by 1 at the half, the Bulls went out and gave it up in the 3rd quarter, allowing the Rockets to score 36 points, doubling up our efforts.  Game, set, match.  I guess Harden went off…  sorry, not impressed with him.  Maybe I should be…  With him and Westbrook together on that team, I see them imploding more times than not… but not against our team.  Now at 3-7, the Bulls seem to be following the script of the last 2 tank-full years.  Still not sure why they can’t get their stuff together.  I did see a quick stat on LaVine from @markstrot on Twitter.  “The Bulls are 14.1 points per 100 possessions better defensively with Zach LaVine off the floor this season.”  Yep… go ahead… read it again; I had to.  I don’t know about all these new stats, but this one sounds really awful.  It makes sense though… about Zach’s defense or lack thereof.  He seemed to get pissed when people would bring it up before the season.  Well… like Trubisky wanting to turn off the TVs to not hear the criticism, do something about it!  If the numbers prove it out, not sure what else you can say.  Playing defense is not a priority anymore in the NBA, but certainly you can do better than that Zach…

Yes, I spent my time a little wiser on this Saturday evening at Bingo Night!  Yes, that’s right.  My Saturday nights will now involve the occasional Bingo night!  Haha… it’s all good, and it raised some money for the school and/or church which is what’s it’s all about.  Better than spending money to see any of the UC teams at this point, let me tell you…  Yet, you know me… I’ll be back in there soon enough.  A last minute ticket purchase in my near future???  Let’s go boys!
