It’s OK to feel like your team should win every game; the players better believe that they can. Regardless of the matchup and/or point spread, it is true; any team can win any game at any time. That’s why an expected win on Monday night in Washington DC was not guaranteed. Sure, the Bears were better on paper. Sure, Papa Vegas made us favorites on the road on national TV. Still have to go out and get that win. That’s exactly what the Bears did; next…
It started off a little rough, with a series ending sack against Trubisky, and an offense that looked like it did the first couple weeks. The defense did not start slowly. They wanted to make up for the lack of turnovers so far this year, and got their first of five on the night when Ha-Ha took it to the house. Defensive TDs are always fun. ESPN ran that stat saying the Bears have more defensive TDs than passing TDs allowed since the beginning of last year I believe; that’s pretty damn impressive. The defense was impressive for most of this one, except for the fact we laid back a bit, and let the Skins creep back into this one. Was I worried? I started to get a bit worried, but then I thought: the defense wouldn’t let us down. And they didn’t, making another big play, causing a big fumble on the QB sneak on 4th down. Game, set, match.
But back to the offense; are all the haters going to take a break this week? I don’t think so. That hate runs deep, already feeling how they feel about the offense; already pegging Mitch as a bust. I get it. We’ve seen this movie before. A Super Bowl worthy defense with an offense that can’t find their way… with a QB not worth a damn. I’m not sure THIS is the movie we’re watching yet. If you think you already know the ending of this flick, and if you believe 100% that you are right, then OK… I hope you’re not. It’s a 16 game season, and on Monday night in DC, Trubisky took a step in the right direction. Nothing earth shattering… and I know it’s the Redskins, but it’s a victory on the road in the NFL. He did throw 3 TDs… Everyone should back off for a second. But don’t go far… I think we’re all anxious to see how the offense will perform against the Vikings next week at home. Another horrible performance, and the haters will be back full force. But what if he does well??? Will that be enough???

I needed one more TD from Mitch, and at this point in the 4th quarter, I kept thinking about that horrible throw to Robinson that got picked. It was a horrible play call too by the way. All those tricky options in your playbook Nagy, and you choose a fade route? Is that being you? Anyways, I was a bit more pissed off than normal about that pick because of the fantasy ramifications. I had Montgomery also… and he was chewing up yardage in that last drive, but when he got stopped on 3rd down, I was down to one chance. I was hoping they’d march limpy back out there to kick a FG; those 3 points would give me a 1 point victory. They did, and he made it! Two game winning kicks in a row for Eddy. I love that guy… I hope he’s OK too.
Yes, it was an enjoyable evening; it made me forget about the Cubs for a few hours. With only a mathematical chance remaining, attention could be turned to the Bears fully by this weekend… that is until the Blackhawks open their season in a couple weeks. But yes, with the Cubs out of the playoff mix, the Bears would be front and center. If you thought there was already a lot of scrutiny, just wait… Nice win boys. Can’t wait until next week. Bear Down!!!
