August 4, 2019: Sweeping Feeling

OK, we’re almost back… I think, why do I have to go back and fill in each day?  Why don’t I just pick up when I’m ready to start writing again?  Well, it’s because I have a lot to say.  I may have missed writing about it at the time, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t watch it happen; it doesn’t mean I didn’t have 500-600 words ready to drop right at that very minute.  This one is the perfect example.  Do you think I’m going to miss the opportunity to talk about the sweep of the Brewers in Wrigley this weekend?  Never that.  Ah, yes, that sweeping feeling…

When I was at the game Friday, I saw a great sign posted; one directed at all the Brewer fans (and there weren’t many) who drove down to Chicago for the weekend.  It said “Welcome to a real city Brewer fans”.  It couldn’t be more true.  It’s easy for them being in Milwaukee, but I imagine when the MLB schedule comes out each year, one destination for all MLB fans to come visit to watch their team play is Wrigley Field.  Now I think Miller Park is just fine, but there is absolutely NO comparison here, OK?  OK.  The same can be said about our cities; the same can be said about our baseball teams.  The Cubs finally showed that when they kicked the crap out of Milwaukee all series long.

It’s about time.  Looking at this Brewer’s roster… they suck.  Let’s start with the biggest suckage which would be their starting pitching.  I mean, when you’re making deals to acquire Jordan Lyles and Drew Pomeranz, nothing against those guys, but you must be desperate.  Their pitching is trash, period; it doesn’t stop there though.  Just look at their lineup.  Outside of Yelich, who, OK, yeah, he is an absolute stud, they have nobody.  I used to really like Lorenzo Cain; only reason I don’t right now is because of the uniform he’s wearing, but his numbers are way down.  Ryan Braun?  Haha… without the juice he looks really average; that’s what I said on Friday at the game, loud enough so that the Brewer fans in front of me could hear me.  Who else you got?  They just shipped Aguilar who was big for them last year.  Mike Moustakous is decent, OK.  Shaw is non-existent; Arcia is bottom of the lineup material.  That minor leaguer they called back up looks like he could be promising.  I don’t know, I just don’t see it.  Looking at our roster, looking at their roster… it’s no comparison.  I’m happy to see the result this weekend.  I’ll be even happier when we continue to distance ourselves from this 2nd rate ball club, because if we let them hang around, then anything can happen.  Just look at last year…

Yeah, so see, I had to go here; I had to gloat a bit about this series, which put the Brewers 4 games back.  The more I think about it, the more I agree with my first instinct on the matter, and that is that the Brewers team last year was a flash in the pan… a one time wonder.  Now they should just fade away, back with the rest of the division, and let the Kings of the North take the reins.  Go Cubs!
