July 25th is the official report to training camp day for our Chicago Bears; that’s only one week to go!!! It seems like so long ago we last saw the Bears on the field; way too long to be carrying around that type of L. I’m ready for these Bears to start making some new memories.
Nagy has made the rounds this summer, throwing the first pitch at both White Sox and Cubs games. He’s no slouch either. Saw how fast he threw it at the Sox game, so the Cubs put him on stat cast, and recorded his 68mph strike that he threw. That was pretty cool. Of course he sang the 7th inning stretch as well. Is there any Bears fan that doesn’t like Nagy? He wasn’t perfect in his first season as head coach (Parkey), but he was something else. He’s building something here; guys want to play here because of him. When was the last time we could say that about a Bears coach? I know guys loved playing for Lovie… I’m sure there may have been a few guys that loved Fox, although he certainly was everything that I didn’t expect. Anyways, Nagy is the man; I’ll give him a mulligan for sticking with Cody. The fact that he stood up for his guys shows something. The fact that it didn’t work out, shows he’s not perfect… nobody is. By the way, is the kicking situation sorted out yet?
Of course there’s been a lot of talk about that… all the guys the Bears were running in to check out. There was the whole Robbie Gould drama that went back and forth, but ended up with him signing an extension with the Niners. It would have been nice, but life goes on. I see that Matt Bryant is available; I wouldn’t mind him. Wouldn’t you rather have an established veteran kicker over somebody that wins a kicking competition? After last year, I don’t think any of us can say this is a “small” decision. The Bears need to be right here… and it would be nice if that guy takes the role and doesn’t look back. I don’t want to have this kicking crap hanging over us the whole year. Sometimes the difference between a win and a loss in this league is razor thin; again, we should know all about that.

I knew the Bears were in every game last year, but to see this information… the Bears with their 5 losses (including playoffs) lost by a combined 15 points. Isn’t it appropriate that this averages out to exactly 3 points, aka a field goal? Let’s bring in Bryant and call it a day; pay the man his money.
There’s too many other things to be excited about… that we should be focused on. As we keep getting closer to the start of the season, it’s going to be tougher and tougher to NOT write about our Bears. I want to keep writing about the Cubs, deep into October, but these Bears… man am I excited. I am ready for some football. See you soon boys. Bear Down!
