Hope your 4th was a blast. I’m glad to see the Cubs getting their heads out of their asses and beating down a team they should be beating down on the regular. Enough is enough already, right?
Glad to see Joe lose his mind for a minute. It feels good to let it out once in a while. Shortly after Joe lost it, Bote got drilled in the head; I was pissed. I was yelling at the TV for a good minute. Yeah, even through the last couple weeks have been brutal for the Cubs, it’s been more like short outbursts for me. When Bote got hit in the helmet, after all that had transpired again… with the Pirate “pitchers” if you can call them that, missing inside again and again… maybe purposely… and if so, good plan… I was furious. That’s what these scrub teams have to resort to. Yeah, I said it.
The NL Central scrub teams have been coming up with the top teams playing like crap. 3.5 games separate 1st place from last place in the division, which by the way, the Cubs are back on top of, tied with the Brewers. All this crap will eventually even itself out, right? The Reds pitching will eventually crap itself. The Pirates bats will go back to being the Pirates bats. The Cardinals will slowly wither away. But… with the Cubs not taking advantage of the Brewers bad play, I could see them hanging around. Like I always say, just take care of our own business, and the rest will take care of itself. We ready to start doing that now?

Since the sweep of the Cards in Wrigley that concluded on June 9th, the Cubs have proceeded to go 8-15 in their past 23 games. Ugly, ugly, ugly. And yet, after all this ugliness, all of us climbing onto the ledge, and the heating up of many seats in that Cubs dugout, the Cubs are tied for first place. It makes me sick to think about if we had been playing better during this stretch. Even close to 500 gives us a 3+ game lead in the division right now. But there’s no time to look back, because sitting tied for 1st place, with 74 games to play, there’s only one way to focus.
Will the Cubs be able to zone in, circle the wagons, and start kicking ass like we know they can? Or, will the Cubs continue to scuffle, causing more changes, some maybe big ones, to come down from above? Ah yes, it’s that summer roller coaster that we love to ride every year with our boys. We made it through the dip; it’s about time to head back up the hill. Go Cubs!
