I hate the Marlins; it’s not hard to figure out why. I’ve clearly stated my case in their Hate File right here almost 5 years ago:
September 25, 2014: The Hate Files IX
The fact that the Cubs finally did win their World Series in 2016 is the only reason I can even talk about them to this day, and what happened almost 16 years ago in Wrigley. Seeing them at Wrigley, at a night game, coming back and winning the game like they did on Monday night… makes my fricking stomach turn. The Marlins? Screw them. Selling off their whole damn team… nobody in the stands down there at all… they really should relocate. It can’t be any worse than being in South Florida with zero following, although I’m sure Derek Jeter does not want to relocate from there. If I went down the list of all the players that were on the Marlins… Yelich & Stanton two of the most recent fire sale deals, it would be a who’s who of baseball. They had a ton of great guys play there. I guess that’s why those bastards won the World Series more times in their short lived franchise than the Astros, Rangers, Padres, Angels, Diamondbacks, Rays, Rockies, Brewers, Mariners, and Nationals. Still, it should have been us vs the Yankees back in 2003. Although all my Cubs heartaches have healed due to 2016, the unpleasant memories still exist.
And now in Game 2 of the series, the Marlins take us into the 9th inning tied up?!?! OK, I’m not ready for another let down; we got that out of our system Monday night, correct? We are going to pull this game out, right? Both Heyward and Schwarber reach to start the 9th; Descalso bunted them over… don’t ask me why the Marlins pitcher didn’t throw to 3rd, but we’ll take it. Almora was having a big night… come on Albert… nope, grounder to SS, gunned Heyward down at home. I’ll tell you what. For being such a crappy team, the Marlins have made a number of solid plays in these past 2 games. The last chance in the 9th would rest on KB’s shoulders.

I ignore most of them; this time I decided to vote. It was about which Cubs player would you want up in a big spot. Baez and Rizzo split the majority of the vote; I definitely agree. Bryant did not get much love. I love Kris, but in a big spot, I would much rather have Anthony and Javy up. Bryant has had big hits… in that NLDS against the Giants to tie Game 3, his huge home run in Game 5 of the World Series that propelled us to our comeback. How about last night? A big homer in the 9th to pull us within one run. Could he do it two nights in a row?
The answer is a big YES. Bryant go BOOM, and the Cubs get that W. They interviewed him after the game… after he got soaked by multiple water and Gatorade containers. He talked about how good this felt, and how he has felt locked in recently. Again, agree with that. He has looked a whole lot better in the past couple weeks. And to see him come through in a big moment… yeah, love it… making some pleasant memories against the Marlins is fun. And like that, the Cubs are back atop the standings.
It’s too early to be watching the standings, right? Well, I’m just going to go ahead and get used to it. It’s going to be like this most of the year, why not start now? 10 out of 13 wins for the boys, with 2 more against the Marlins coming. Go Cubs!

Its never to early for watching the standings, its a confidence boost! I hope Jeter and the Marlins get demoted to a double A team.
