November 8, 2014: Keep on Trucking

With a 21-33 record in my rear view mirror, I have to keep on trucking.  We’re going to see it out all the way to the end of the season; no use in stopping now.  Let’s make some magic.

QB:  Carson Palmer over Big Ben

Big Ben has been the Big Beast the past 2 weeks.  He has absolutely killed it.  He’s due for a dud.  May not be the most scientific method, but the Jets defense will help me this week.  Carson Palmer, fresh off a 3 year extension, will lead my fantasy team this week during Brady’s bye week, and will win this pick for me.  The Rams have a very good run defense, which should mean lots of passing in Arizona this Sunday.  One pick, one winner.

RB:  Darren McFadden over Mark Ingram

The Saints backfield has been a mess.  It usually is a mess, at least for fantasy owners, not knowing which RB to play from week to week.  It’s been a lot clearer lately with Pierre and Khiry out, and Ingram stepping in as the man.  He has a tough assignment against the Niners.  Meanwhile, Oakland is looking squarely at 0-9 after this week against the Broncos.  I like McFadden to get some yardage on the ground early, and catch some passes out of the backfield late… hopefully enough to outpoint Ingram.

WR:  Alshon Jeffery over Calvin Johnson

Megatron is back.  But will he really be back?  Miami is an underrated team that is slowly shedding that tag with each win.  Playing on the road in Detroit is a tough challenge, but they may make it interesting.  Their CBs, though we know are undersized, played our big WRs pretty well; they contain Calvin this week.  Speaking about our big WRs, look for Alshon to have a big game, as Jay will try to use ALL of his weapons… will NEED to use all his weapons for a shot this Sunday night.  How about we don’t throw to Marshall in triple coverage this year Jay.

TE:  John Carlson over Jared Cook

I’ve been earning a lot of my wins at TE against the highly rated (over rated) Jared Cook… we’re going to the well once more.  This time, we’re picking the TE on the other sideline.  Carlson should catch some of the many Palmer passes and maybe get in the end zone, while Cook, well, let’s just say he’s been on my side all year.  Don’t screw me Jared.  Give me another dud.

Wild Card:  Eric Decker over LeVeon Bell

In an upset pick this week, I like the Jets to beat Pittsburgh.  I already said Big Ben will have an off game, I think LeVeon follows suit.  On the flip side, Decker looks to repeat his good week last week.  Maybe Vick and Decker can stay hot; it’s worth a shot.

Maybe I need to add on to these fantasy picks.  Maybe some picks against the spread.  Maybe some college picks.  I’ve barely talked college football all year… maybe that’s because I’ve barely watched college football all year.  Maybe I need to add some fantasy basketball picks.  I have to think at what I could do best.  Maybe none of them.  Maybe we keep going and see what happens.  A winning week would go a long way…  Who’s with me?
