April 21, 2019: Psychic

As I was saying, I read a really good article Saturday night about Steve Stone.  I saw the headline; it definitely drew me in.  It said that he believes he’s psychic.  I was wondering if that was just a ploy to get me to read the article, or if he really believed that.  He does believe that… good ol’ Stoney.

I really liked Steve Stone.  I loved him as the color man for the Cubs TV games.  When he got the boot for being honest about the shit show that the Cubs were back then, I was pissed.  Now what?  Well, we got Len and Bob.  I wasn’t a fan of Len Kasper at first, but he grew on me.  Now, I really like him.  Bob Brenly on the other hand… never really liked him.  Glad when he left.  I was happy when they brought JD in.  I had got a sneak preview of him from his days in Houston; I liked what I heard.  The combination of Len and JD is very solid; I enjoy listening to them.  I don’t watch the Sox, but I hear Benetti is good; the little I have heard of him, he seems cool.  And of course Stoney is solid.  Because of this, I may not mind tuning into the Sox here and there; I couldn’t take Hawk.  But for this reason alone, the 2 current Sox TV broadcasters, I may tune in to some Sox games.

Back to the article though… yeah, he thinks he’s psychic.  He gave a few examples; those were pretty cool.  Benetti says he does this stuff all the time.  Steve will write a note down about what is going to happen, and when it does, he flips it over.  He says he doesn’t say all this stuff on the air when it’s bad news for the Sox, because he doesn’t want to be negative.  On the flip side, he doesn’t want to come across as crazy either… with all his predictions that are correct.  First thing I was thinking when I read this:  Did he know the Cubs were going to win the World Series in 2016?  He was asked about this year’s Cubs team: he said they’d be one of the best third or second place teams.  I don’t like that.  Then I started thinking… of course everybody calls stuff once in a while.  This guy is going to win the game, this guy is going to get a hit right here, this guy is definitely going to strike out.  Depending how much baseball you watch, maybe you call stuff a lot more than normal too?  So if Steve is right so much, then how much is he wrong?  Is he like 75% from the field?  Is he ever wrong?  Haha…

It was a really well written article; it was interesting as hell.  Once this word gets out, everybody is going to want to talk to him.  Can you imagine him in Vegas?  I need to talk to him… haha.  I wonder how long it will take to get on the radar nationally… if the Sox keep on the up and up, it may be sooner than later.  But per Steve, they won’t win another World Series ever…. just kidding.  But seriously, Steve, can you tell me how many wins each team in the majors will have this year?  Cha Ching!  You’re in the wrong business buddy.
