January 19, 2019: Pulling Away

posted in: Bulls | 1

With their loss at home against the Heat, the Bulls have turned in their 10th loss in a row. Between the Cavs, Suns, Knicks, and Bulls it’s a race to the basement; they are pulling away from the rest of the NBA. I really didn’t see this coming this year.

We knew what last year was all about. Thing was, is that they really didn’t tank right anyways. Getting the 7th pick of the draft wasn’t ideal, although they did parlay that pick into Wendell. So I guess this year, the Bulls are trying to do this all the way right. With Wendell out for a few months, the Bulls have one less piece to mess it up. Trading Jabari and RoLo at some point will help lead to what every Bulls fan who wants Zion dream is: more Felicio!

I see a lot of people trashing the coach. The whole extension thing was really no big deal. He didn’t get any extra years; he got a raise through the end of his current contract which is through next year…rightfully so. It should work like that in all lines of work; you get a promotion, you should get more money. That’s all this was. Yes, announcing it after the Golden State blowout wasn’t the best timing, but does that surprise you? They obviously don’t care what we think. Remember, the real problem here is upstairs with the ownership and general management; until that changes, I’m afraid. They should have been gone a long time ago…maybe this last top pick is their last chance? I’d love to think that, and if that’s the case, then let’s start winning ASAP. Get another later top 10 pick, and start off next year crappy again. How long will we suck before it gets better?

I’m not a huge fan of Boylen; I never liked Hoiberg. Funny thing is that he seems like a poor man’s Thibs. Still miss Thibs. Bulls don’t shoot enough threes; we’re not good at it! Lauri ok, maybe Zach, Portis? We don’t have the shooters to do that. So then what? Grind it out, on both sides of the ball. We don’t seem to be good at that either. This team that supposedly has some pieces… I don’t know. Lauri and Wendell yeah, but who else? I’m back and forth on Zach; Dunn hasn’t been good. Who else? The talent still isn’t there. So yeah, get a top 3 pick and add another potential stud; will that be enough?

Boylen will be here through the end of next year. At that point, the Bulls will be done paying both him and Hoiberg. At that point, we can get a new coach. At that point, I hope someone else will be doing the hiring. At that point, maybe the Bulls will be good again; so 2020-2021 at the earliest? I’ve been avoiding talking about the Bulls; there is nothing good to talk about. Guess we can keep watching those Zion dunks and waiting for the draft. This season is over early, again. This sucks.

10 losses in a row, not usually a good thing, unless you are the Bulls trying to tank for another high pick. Yet somehow, they even screwed that up last year. Maybe they will manage to get it right this year, now that Wendall is out. How many years of tanking and rebuilding do we have to go through? Garpax still has no clue, even after firing fredberg. They suck. Boylen is a bandaid until the Bulls are ready to compete again. Will that be next year? 3 years? 5 years? Hard to watch these other super teams and see how far away the Bulls actually are. Garpax needs to be gone…next step. Tank this year, high pick, free agent signing, and maybe in 2021 with a new coach. Come on Bulls!
