I just realized that this will be the first blog I write about a Bears playoff game. I also realized that I’ve been incorrect saying this will be the first Bears playoff game in 7 years; it’s actually been 8 years. It was the whole 2018-2011 thing instead of the 2019-2011 calculation. We got it straight now. And yes, since I started this in 2014, I haven’t had the chance to do a write-up about a Bears playoff game; I’m so excited, I’m bringing it a day early.
I hate when I feel like something is a sure thing, because that’s usually bad. Originally, I felt the Bears were going to smack the Eagles; no way the Eagles would be able to match up with us. I was worried… when I saw the line start at Bears -6 and drop a couple points, I worried some more. Then I started thinking about the whole playoff experience thing, and how that squarely favors the Eagles. Then what about Nagy’s part in the Chiefs playoff collapse last year. Then I started remembering the Bears vs Panthers playoff matchup where I lost a ton of money betting on the Bears. It was another QB with some mojo Jake Delhomme to Steve Smith that sunk us that day. This Nick Foles guy… he’s got some kind of magic going right? All this made me start to question the outcome of this upcoming game; I felt good. I felt good because it’s really not too good to be true. There are reasons for people to select the Eagles in this game, and thankfully, many national media heads are doing just that. That doesn’t scare me at all; they usually don’t know what the hell they are talking about. And it gave me another reason to return to my original feeling on this game.
Yeah, that’s why I stopped betting on football; too much heart in my bets. But I really do feel like the Bears will win this Sunday; I really feel like it will not be close. This whole Foles magic thing? Yeah, show’s over buddy. Already with some bruised ribs, wait until he meets us. Alshon returning to Soldier Field… already making comments. Who else they got? Agholor, Ertz, Sproles… they have no running game. Sproles worries me a bit; the older version of Tarik Cohen. Philly’s offensive line is good. But come on… we’ve been watching this defense play all year. We know how good they are. They had a 2nd half collapse against Green Bay in week 1 and a 2nd half collapse in the heat down in Miami; the Pats got scores other ways, while the Giants just got lucky. This defense has been consistently solid. Not sure if Eddie will be back for this one; not sure we want to force him in there if he’s not ready. Our playoff path is just beginning, right?
On the flip side of this matchup, it is Mitch’s first time; it’s most of our guys’ first time. But Mitch holds the keys to the offense. Obviously, protecting the ball is key, but I don’t want to “play it safe”. We need to play like we have been all year; play to win. I trust Nagy will follow his instruction on his clip board; be you! It’s worked to this point; no need to change stuff up now. Our offensive line is no slouch, and our offense has now spent the year together; I think they’re ready to blossom. Why wait until next year? Let’s do it right now!

I’m ready. I don’t know if I’m going to know how to act… it’s been so long. I’m glad I had that wavering on my original confidence. I’m glad I ended up back where I was. This team is special. It’s time to start proving it where it counts. Let the playoffs begin. Bear Down!
