December 30, 2018: Knockout Round

posted in: Bears | 0

I can get used to this… ending other teams’ seasons that is.  The Bears did the deed for the 2nd time this year, sending the Vikings home with a good spanking.  Of course that initial elimination of the Pack started the festivities.  Knocking out two division rivals is a good appetizer for the true knockout round, which will begin next.

You worried about the Eagles?  Sorry, I’m not.  I know they’re hot, but uh… we’re pretty damn hot too.  And we’re going to host a playoff game at Soldier Field for the first time in 7 years… where this year’s Bears are 7-1…  Yes, I know they are the defending Super Bowl champs, but so what.  If that’s our goal, then we’ll have to go through anybody and everybody.  So please don’t tell me you’re worried about the Eagles.  If we were to lose to the Eagles in our place, then what makes you think we would have been able to beat any of the other teams on our path.  I can’t wait for Sunday afternoon…

I’m of the mind set that if the Bears play their best game, they can beat anybody.  Yes, we don’t have to wish for another team, whoever that team may be, to have an off game.  No, we control our own destiny; that’s a good place to be.  So I guess the only way we will lose is if we beat ourselves.  With this defense… and an up and coming offense…  bring it on!

How pathetic were the Vikings on this day?  Needing a win to get in, they played scared, and it all started with their QB Kirk Cousins.  Did you see that play where we almost sacked him?  The one where he was about to get sandwiched, and was wincing as he got rid of the ball, fearing the contact that was about to happen.  That was weak; Kirk Cousins is weak.  I didn’t know it was like this, but this dude was melting down on the sidelines.  Total choke effort… well, maybe not total, because like I told my wife, that’s what WE do to teams; we make them look bad on offense.  My wife responded with “We?, what did you do except sit on the couch and bark at the TV?”  I just repeated myself, obliviously to the fact that I’m not really on this team, perfectly aware that this is MY team.

I love that Nagy turned the boys loose.  No need to interrupt this mojo by resting guys, and giving another team like the Vikings hope; regardless of how pathetic they looked, no need to give another team, especially within the division, a life line.  No, we sent them home, just like we did the Pack a couple weeks back.  Now it’s the Eagles turn.

From this point on, the focus of this week will be Sunday afternoon.  Already checked tickets… cheapest ticket to get in the place is $300 right now.  Just curious… not planning on going to any remaining games, unless there’s one in Atlanta in about a month…  You don’t think it’s possible?  You haven’t been watching.  Let the playoffs begin… damn it feels good to say that.  Bear Down!!!
