Did you catch the Blackhawks game on Saturday night? I didn’t watch the whole thing; I saw they were losing. I zoned in for most of the 3rd period and beyond. It’s game like this that make me think there it still a flicker of hope left for the Blackhawks this year. What an awesome win!
Down 2-0, then 4-2, the Blackhawks didn’t give up. It was 4-3 late in this one. The Blackhawks pulled their goalie; I always have hope that they can score in those type of situations, but am usually wrong. I shouldn’t be that surprised considering how well the Hawks typically do with a man advantage. I did like what I was seeing in this game, as far as the Hawks firing shots on net. How long have we wanted them to do this? It seems like Eddie O is being a little bit more outspoken since Coach Q was let go. What an advisor to have if the Blackhawks chose to. Just listening to him through the broadcast makes you a smarter hockey fan; he is just awesome. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for a young coach like Colliton to listen to what he says. He talked about having a “shooting” power play, where all you do is fire the puck on the net. He talked about getting in the tough areas of the ice, and that the puck will find you. It found DeBrincat with about a second left in this one.
Saad belongs in that area too. He was behind the net getting the puck as time wound down. He made a nice backhand pass to Alex in front of the net. What a touch by the kid, from his backhand to forehand, then through the legs of the Panthers’ goalie with 0.08 left on the clock. They finally scored one late. It was exciting as hell. OT was next and saw a nice goal by Gustafsson; sweet, sweet goal for the win. I felt happy for all those Hawks fans in the stands down in Florida. They were treated to a great come from behind win from a Hawks team whose best days are pretty apparently behind them.

Remember, they help treat ED, sample generic viagra but they are painful and invasive, because of which most men hesitate to go for them. One thing I did notice in OT was the absence of Schmaltz on the ice. In a 3 on 3 situation, having a guy like him is huge. He’s just so fast with the puck. He doesn’t shoot often enough, but he can keep it on his stick for a long time in the zone, creating chances to score. He has struggled this year no doubt. Well, late Sunday night, the news broke that he was gone. Wow.
I guess I don’t get it. We need to get younger, but all we do is trade our young guys away. OK, if a guy doesn’t fit, or we have given him every chance to succeed and he hasn’t, move on. It sure seems like we have a short leash for these guys, especially two of the latest trades of Vinnie and now Schmaltz. I wasn’t too upset about Hartman; I was OK with Teuvo too, although admittedly, that was a short leash on him too… one bad postseason appearance? So what is the issue here? Drafting the wrong guys? Blackhawks unable to develop any players? Or was this latest trade of Schmaltz the movement of a “Q” guy?
It’s confusing. It’s like the Bulls a few years back… wanting to get younger and more athletic, and then going out and signing Wade and Rondo. What is the plan here? Or, is it just the start of the tear down and total rebuild which will eventually claim Bowman, so what does he care anyway? Not sure… was feeling pretty good about the win on Saturday night, then this… what’s next?

I was not watching this game until you text about the Hawks tying it with a second left. I then watched the ot where Gustafsson snapped off a sweet wrister for the W! Eddie O is great broadcasting, which is why he does national games, too. He does drop a lot of knowledge during the games. Shooting the puck on a power play and getting to the grinding areas are not new thoughts. It is all about executing. Some guys just don’t want to go to the tough areas, though. I love the 3on3 ot hockey. Wide open ice, room to skate, and time to make plays. Bye, bye schmaltzy, traded to the yotes for 2 prior first rounders. Who knows the real reason he was traded, but the “remodeling” continues. Bowman is trying to save his job by trying to find the right pieces to the Blackhawks puzzle. Can it be done this year? Not real sure. Colliton needs more time, just not sure there will be enough of that this year. GO HAWKS!!!
