November 22, 2018: No Let Down

posted in: Bears | 0

Our teams are always letting us down.  Cubs couldn’t score a damn run to save their lives and went home early in this year’s postseason.  Bulls are in tank mode 2.0.  Blackhawks scapegoated a coach and are no better than they were before they did that.  The Sox?  Year 14 of the rebuild starts next spring.  Yeah, but one of our teams is carrying the flag right now.

We thought it would be the trap game at home vs Detroit before the big showdown with the Vikings; nope.  We thought this Vikings game would be tough; nope.  We worried about the let down game in Detroit only 80 something hours after the Vikings win; nope.  Yeah, the Bears gave us the best appetizer on this Thanksgiving Day; another win to push our record to 8-3 and still in first place; yeah, no let down here.

Maybe next week in New York vs the Giants?  They have been playing better.  Classic look ahead game with the Rams coming to Soldier Field the following Sunday night.  How about we stop worrying about where we could slip up?  We’re 8 and F’n 3; you better start making your Super Bowl plans.

Haha… Yeah, I had to go there, but seriously…  What teams rank ahead of our boys right now?  Saints, Rams, Chiefs, Patriots, Steelers?  Yes, no?  Any that I’m missing?  We could squabble about this all day, but at the end of it all, we’ll realize that the Bears are a pretty good football team.  It’s about damn time.

Chase Daniel led us to this latest victory.  With two nice TD passes to RB’s running similar routes to different sides of the end zone, he kept us in the game.  And then the defense took it.  Eddie Jackson, again….man, Mike Brown reincarnated out there.   This guy is magic.   He knew where Stafford was going with that ball as soon as he hiked it.  It was beautful; it was fun to celebrate it with my family.

Yes, it was Thanksgiving Day.  We had just made it there, relying on Jeff and Tom to get us through the 3rd quarter on the way out there.  Waiting to eat until the game ended…  It has been 33 years since that one and only Super Bowl.   There I go again with those words.

This is an easy team to like.   How great are the celebrations?   Best part about them is that it’s a bunch of guys doing it together.  It’s not one guy saying “hey, look at me!”   No, it’s a group of guys that know they’re good having fun together.  It’s awesome.

Everything seems great when you’re winning.   5 in a row now, no sign of slowing down.  Yes, I am looking ahead to the Rams game, sue me.  It will be the next show and prove moment for this team.  Yes, week to week, I know.  No road game is a sure thing; we’ll have to focus against the G-men too.   I believe that we will.

This season is feeling really good right now.   I’m ready for more, just like that 2nd full plate of turkey and stuffing.  And yes, maybe the Bears will let us down this year at some point, but until then, let’s enjoy this shit.  Bear Down!

A 3rd game in 12 day let down with your backup qb starting? Hell no! Not with our Bears! No need to keep waiting for the next stumble. If it happens, it happens. And maybe they will let us down at some point this year, but will it really be a let down? I mean, yes, we predicted playoffs, but did we think they would be this good? A lot of the so called experts predicted last place. Sitting in first place in the nfc central at 8-3 with 5 games left and a 1.5 game lead sounds damn good to me. Chase did his damn job! He came in, ran the offense, threw 2 td’s and did his job as a backup…awesome! Now, MTru gets a nice long rest to get healthy as does the entire team with 10 days to relax and stay hungry. The D came through again…EJack is the man in the secondary! Time to head to NY vs the gmen next, but let’s enjoy what this team just did…3-0 in 12 days! Thanks for the early Thanksgiving gift! Definitely thankful that the Bears are in 1st and this good again! BEAR DOWN!!!
