November 16, 2018: Week 11 Preview Vikings at Bears

posted in: Bears | 0

We’re going to start calling Da Bears Da Flex Boys…  The Bears are good, so they’re putting us on national TV more.  Sunday night will be the first time the NFL flexes us into this position; they’ve already done that for our game against the Rams too.  The price of success…  Selfishly, I don’t like it.  My son will not get to see these whole games.  He’ll get to watch the 1st quarter, and then it’s off to bed.  As for me, I should be able to stay up for it… haha.

It’s a battle for first place at Soldier Field; our first matchup with the division favorites the Vikes.  Before we start there, did you happen to see the Packers result on Thursday?  The only reason I mention it is because they fell flat on their faces.  Good old Coach McCarthy decided to punt late in this one vs going for a short 4th down.  I guess Cheeseheads are calling for his head…. I think they’re actually going to get what they want… unfortunately for us.  Maybe they’ll hire John Fox to replace him… we could only wish.  Poor Packers… under 500 now…  Still waiting to meet them again.  But back to this week…

Papa Vegas has the Bears a 3 point favorite; it dipped to 2.5 pretty quickly.  So it’s basically a pick’em, and that’s OK.  Although we’ve been flexed, and we’re starting to get some more national attention, I still don’t think the respect is there.  Again, the NFL is a week to week thing…. beat the hapless Jets, so what.  Beat the more hapless Bills, good for you.  Some aren’t even giving us respect for the victory against our division foe the Lions…  Keep that chip on your shoulder boys.

The Bears are becoming a solid overall, balanced team.  Yes, the defense… wow the defense; they are good… they are really good.  With the return of Mack last week, the dominance showed up again.  Don’t let the 22 points fool you; tons of garbage yards and points in there.  This game was over at the half.  And the offense; yeah, they had their part in the early disposal of the Lions.  I love that the Bears get the ball and march right down the field.  Get the lead early, and let the defense eat.  Special teams has hurt us this year.  The New England game sticks out; our kicker hasn’t been good.  Will this weak link be the downfall of our balanced team’s success?

The Vikings are no slouch.  Their defense is solid as well.  It will be an excellent test for our up and coming QB and offense.  Their offense is OK too; they have 2 great WRs.  But from what I’ve heard, their offensive line is very bad… really?  Well, that made my decision easy.

Final Score Predictor:  Bears 24 Vikings 13

Ace in the Hole:  Bears defense  8 sacks, 2 picks, 1 forced fumble, 1 TD

I guess I don’t want the defense to be that good tonight; let’s keep some of this under wraps.  I’m afraid after tonight, the national love will be pouring in.  Then we’ll have to get ready to play in a little more than 3 days again… as we serve as the appetizer for everybody’s Thanksgiving dinner.  It’s time to ratchet up our return to the spotlight.  Bear Down!

Da Bears, Da Flex boys…yeah, flex their games to prime time and then watch them flex their muscles for the nation to see. DA Bears are back! Here is another after the game comment, but I liked the Bears to win this game vs the vikes. I thought it would be a defensive battle with Parkey coming into play late. He kind of did to help seal things…good to see him bounce back after last week. Your ace in the hole was right on the money. Damn, the Monsters of the Midway are back and hungry! More to come on the Bears big W, but let’s just say that they will not be under the radar any longer. BEAR DOWN!!!
