I tried to do a little more research this year. The last couple years, I’ve been cramming on draft night… trying to read everything I can to have the best possible fantasy football draft. It’s shown… I’ve sucked the last couple years. Yeah, I’m still holding my own in fantasy baseball, but I haven’t been competitive the last couple years in football. Hoping to change that this year.
Started looking at stuff about a week ago. Had my strategy heading into tonight’s draft. I executed pretty well. There’s always a couple guys you could have bid another dollar or two on, maybe a couple you spent a few more dollars on than you would have liked, and then there’s always the nice surprises. All in all, I was pretty satisfied with my draft; here it goes:
Alvin Kamara was the guy I zoned in on early in my research. I added a couple other names on the top of my board just to be safe, but never really wavered on him. I had him last year, and he was amazing. Not enough to carry my team to the playoffs, but he was great. I got him again. With top notch RBs not a plenty, I wanted to score another one, and I did. Jordan Howard makes up the other half of the starting backfield. Although I got Kamara at a pretty good deal, I paid a few more bucks for Howard then I would have liked; that’s what happens when a Bear is decent. I added Cohen and Ekeler later on, both of whom were on my list. Then I got a surprise. For some reason, I started bidding after Adrian Peterson… I got him. Oh well. Didn’t plan to, but… let’s see how he does.
The WRs are the guys I didn’t go for. Antonio was out of my price range for sure, but Allen and Diggs were my next targets. I got into bidding wars for both, letting both go. Didn’t feel great about it, but knew I had some extra bucks to throw around at other guys. I ended up getting all of my WRs for cheap… maybe there’s a reason for that. Fitzgerald is old, but is still a high quality fantasy player. Kenny Stills, Calvin Ridley, and Josh Doctson were all dirt cheap, and then I got my WR surprise. Josh Gordon… I remember when he carried me that year; still, I didn’t plan on grabbing him. Yet, when nobody was bidding on him, I jumped in; got him for cheap… low risk, high reward type pick. We’ll see what happens.

Diebler referred to his record as something “cool” that he will “look back on later down the road.” Far from bragging about his role in the victory, Diebler demonstrated his humbleness by stating that the victory “was a great team effort.” And that is precisely that kind of effort that No. 1 Ohio State need from their players on Sunday, when in their last home. generic cialis online
At tight end, I never get one of the top guys, but because I had saved some bucks at WR, I had a little extra to play with a tight end. I grabbed Greg Olsen. Paid a bit more than I would have liked, and I didn’t plan on drafting him, but I locked him in. Then I added Jack Doyle later in the draft. Not a bad 1-2 TE combo in my opinion. Added the Falcons defense and Robbie Gould at kicker; my team was complete.
It wasn’t too bad for an auction… about 2.5 hours felt like a record time. Oh, I almost forgot… QB. I had my eye on this guy even though he burned me last year. I knew I wouldn’t bid high on any QB; thankfully, I got my guy for under $10. Matty Ice is back on the Chicago Blitz. And my backup??? His name rhymes with Itch Blubisky… I told my son I would draft him… haha.
Locked and loaded. Here’s hoping this fantasy coach has a better year. But now that the draft is done, time to switch the focus back to fantasy baseball; playoffs start next week.

The fantasy auction draft is always fun. It is so much better than the typical snake draft since you can go after anybody and everybody as long as you have the money. I usually don’t go into these drafts with a plan. I know a few guys that I would like to get, but if the money ain’t right, I usually let them go. Rivers is my qb. He was on my radar and for $8, hard to beat. I drafted 6 running backs, highlighted by Saquan Barkley, who I did not plan to get but did as well as Lamar Miller, who I really think is going to have a big year with Watson back. I drafted 6 wide receivers, highlighted by the 1-2 combo of Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins. Jones is my guy. Hopkins fell in my lap for a cheap $46 in my opinion. I snoozed on my tight ends and ended up with Seferian-Jenkins. I got my kicker Prater as well as the Bears D, which is about to get a big lift in a coming blog I’m sure! All in all, another successful auction draft. Hope the season ends with a title but back to the fantasy baseball playoffs where I finished the year 2nd, good enough for a first round bye.
