August 28, 2018: Sox Fan Excitement

Yes, I know… there is another baseball team in town.  I have a couple readers (about 50% of my total readers) that like the Sox.  They give me crap for not talking about them.  But let’s be honest, there’s really nothing to talk about there… until recently.

Of course, I’m talking about the call-up of Kopech, or as some Sox fans may want to believe, the 2nd coming of Nolan Ryan.  Now I don’t want to damper any of this Sox fan excitement, but wow…  I guess I should understand… Wandering through the baseball desert for 40 years of my life without a World Series title can lead to some delirium.  I know it’s only been 13 years, but with all this Cubs winning that has been going on, White Sox fans are chomping at the bit to be relevant again.  They hit the radar by bringing up their golden boy.

I was going to flip to the Sox game to check out his debut… but nah… He did well.  He did throw 40 something pitches to get through his first 2 MLB innings, but he got through them, and for anybody’s MLB debut, especially for a guy as hyped as him, that’s a positive.  Then the rain came, and that was it for Kopech.  He did pitch again the other day, and got his first MLB win.  Congrats!  There is definitely reason to be excited as a White Sox fan.

Male impotence is a reality and a order viagra online topic that people did not like to discuss in public. Because Kopech isn’t the only one.  For anyone paying attention, Rodon has been that guy again.  He’s been one of the best pitchers in baseball the last couple months.  Yes, it’s only a couple months, so don’t crown him yet, but Kopech-Rodon as a 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation isn’t too shabby.  But that’s not it either… there’s another guy, Dylan Cease, who although he has been shut down for the year, will be joining the rotation next year most likely; yes, you can thank the Cubs for him… and a certain hot prospect named Eloy, who won’t see the field until next year.  He supposedly has better stuff than Kopech.  So 1-2-3 locked down, and then you throw in Lopez and Giolito… don’t forget about Fullmer… and you have the makings of an impressive, young starting rotation.  Like I said, there is definitely reason to be excited.

I honestly thought this would be the year the Sox make strides on the field; I guess I was off by a half a year.  Since the 2nd half, I believe the Sox are 20-17… something like that.  So, yeah, I thought they’d be around 500, with an outside chance of getting hot and creeping into the playoff picture.  That ain’t going to happen, but certainly can build on the 2nd half of the season.  And that’s more important than continuing to lose to get another high draft pick.

Once the 2019 season begins, the Sox may be a popular sleeper pick to make the playoffs; I wouldn’t disagree.  Maybe still a year too early for talking about winning it all, next year is certainly a year to start winning on the field, just like they’ve done in the 2nd half.  So, get excited Sox fans, get your butts to the park, cheer on your young guys, but don’t think you’re anywhere close to being on the Cubs level yet.  Good luck with the rebuild, and maybe we’ll see you in that 2020 World Series.

There is another Chicago baseball team? HAHAHA. Oh yeah, the white sox. Talk about being irrelevant for 13 straight years…ouch. There is reason for optimism, though. They have been playing good baseball lately. Kopech is getting rave reviews. Rodon has been great. More prospects to come, too. The white sox are rebuilding by adding youth and arms. Nothing wrong with that. Just like the Cubs signed Lester years ago, the white sox are going to need that big name to sign to really get things jump started. Who will it be? Bryce Harper? A pitcher? A big name manager? To be continued for sure. I wonder how the young white sox like playing in an empty stadium. That has to change one of these years. Yep, I’m sure it will be when they are winning again. Maybe next year?
