In the midst of this busy sports weekend, there was some news on the Bulls front. No, no, they didn’t sign any big free agent; were you expecting that? No, the Kings stepped up and made an offer to Zach Lavine, that the Bulls had to match if they wanted to keep him. They did, quickly, and he’ll be back in a Bulls uni next year. Zach the Man!
Who is the man by the way? Zach has to be one of them; don’t think he is THE guy. Lauri is another one; maybe the new guy Mr. Wendell. Kris Dunn? Lots of guys, but do we have The Man? Maybe next year’s free agency?
I’m OK with the Bulls ponying up for Lavine. You knew they were going to. It’s all about the Butler trade. Had the Bulls let Zach walk, that trade would have looked even worse. He was the centerpiece of the pieces back to the Bulls for Jimmy. You think GarPax would let him walk one year later? Nah.
I’m not sold on Zach by any means; I’ve been pretty consistent with that. But, last year was his first year back off the ACL injury. The jury is still out in my opinion, and now the Bulls have paid to see those cards. He showed flashes. He’ll get a lot more chances this year.

We’ve got enough to compete in the East. By compete I mean make the playoffs, not win the East. That will require that number one guy via free agency next year. We don’t have to worry about another high draft pick. We need to let this young team play and hope that somehow that will convince guys to want to come here.
Coming to Chicago shouldn’t need a lot of convincing, however, we do need to overcome the whole GarPax thing. And who knows who will be our coach. Year 4 of the Hoiball era, with only one more year under contract left, will happen this year. I’m ready to see the Bulls take steps this year, sign that big guy next year, then bring in a good coach the next year. Sound like a plan?
I’m looking forward to watching them. Last year was so hard…probably the hardest year watching the Bulls since the Tim Floyd era. And who knows…maybe one of the guys turns into The Man. Maybe the Bulls start rolling. Maybe they win the East. Maybe they win it all. Maybe I’m drinking early in the morning…
It was a lot of money for Lavine, but the Bulls still have some and will have some going forward. You know, for that free agent that won’t come here. I don’t think anything will be changing on that front, the ownership/management front. With some wins, GarPax will get off the chopping block. We’ll forget all the BS and root root for our Bulls. We always do. It’s about time to start repaying the greatest fans in basketball. We may have resigned number 8, but we’re still looking for number 7. Go Bulls!

Not real sure how I feel about the Bulls coughing up so much money to keep lavine. I mean, the guy proved nothing last year. By no means do I believe he is the man. I do not think the Bulls have that guy yet. I guess garpax had to save face and match the kings offer instead of letting the main piece of the butler trade go for nothing. It is past time for garpaxberg to be gone…waiting and waiting. I know how I feel about them. It is the rest of the Bulls that I am unsure about. Lavine, dunn, markk, and now the new Wendell…how will they do together? Are any of them in the winning future of the Bulls? I sure hope so. It should be playoffs or bust this year…no more rebuilding time. The wait for #7 continues…Go Bulls!!!
