Well, we all predicted the Bears to be 1-1 at this point… We are all right!
Now, which Bears team shows up on Monday Night Football in New York vs the J-E-T-S???
First, some housekeeping from last week. Wizzo’s 23-20 Bears win prediction was closest, while Mo nailed the Ace in the Hole (that sounds gross) with predicting 3 TDs for Marshall. Great job boys! Let’s take a look into that crystal ball again this week.
So for the 2nd straight week, we have our Bears & Cutler on the road in primetime. This is usually not a good combination for a Bears win, although we bucked that trend last week. Can we do it 2 straight weeks? How good are the Jets? They almost beat the Pack last week in Lambeau. Let’s take a look at my prediction from April when the Bears schedule came out:
“Week 3 at NYJ: Loss. A game most will pick as a W. It’s Monday Night Football, and I just think we lay an egg here. Maybe looking ahead to our next game?”
I still feel the same way. Coming off an improbable victory, flying across country, super bowl plans back on, playing against a team we should beat, while we anticipate next week’s game at home vs Green Bay. It makes sense doesn’t it?
Papa Vegas felt the same way when he opened this game at NYJ -2.5. The Jets favored? Yeah, believe it. Is this another sucker play? I’m not sure… actually, based on the factors I mentioned above, I would say no. I think it’s a fair line. I’m not sure which way the smart money is in this game; I guess that’s why PV is so good at what he does. There is a reason why they keep building those casinos out in Las Vegas.
My first question in this game is can Cutler do it again? 4 TDs & no turnovers… shocking numbers from last week for him. I’d like to say he could do it again, but at this point, I want to see him do it again. Seeing is believing. I’m not so sure Bad Jay has been put to bed; he may be up late on Monday night. I don’t think he needs to be perfect though. Although the Jets are one of the best defenses against the run, I think Matty Forte puts in work Monday night. I like the fact that Kyle Long was disturbed about the OL’s run blocking. Fire off those blocks boys! Put some of those Jets on their ass, and let Matty run.

In the first game post-Peanut, how will they stack up? I mean, it’s not like the Jets are an offensive juggernaut. Although for the 3rd straight week, we face a mobile QB. Geno looked pretty good last week up in Cheeseland. Back at home in New York, with the 2 headed RB monster (old monster) of Johnson and Ivory, they may present some problems for this Bears D. Remember though, I’ve always said they’d be OK this year. Are they still going to be OK without Tillman? Is OK enough to win this game?
Special teams are very special. How about Santonio breaking a return against his old mates? What are the odds on that? 20-1, 50-1… more like a million to one. So you’re saying I have a chance??? I love Dumb and Dumber. Let’s just make sure we tackle on special teams. It would be nice to block for the punter too… let’s avoid any blocked punts going forward.
Per my April pick, I’m going with the Jets in this one. I really hate to do this, but I’m sticking to my word.
Final Score Prediction: Jets 23 Bears 21
Ace in the Hole: Matt Forte–> 96 rushing yards, 88 receiving yards, 2 TDs
I hope I’m wrong… I usually am. Let’s get to 2-1 boys. Long season ahead, every win is important.
Good luck with those predictions this week, and BEAR DOWN!
Mo
Bears 17 Jets 14
Ace in the hole : Santonio Holmes (???) maybe be 5 Catches 90 yards 1 TD ( you know he wants to stick it to the JETS)
Key to the game: Keep the Jets defensive front line in check.
Lockdown Corner
Bears 21 Jets 17
Ace in the Hole this week will come from a defensive player. Kyle Fuller will have a pick six and a forced fumble deep in the red zone. He will step in for Tillman and make some huge plays this week!!!
