April 29, 2017: Cue The Fat Lady

posted in: Bulls | 2

And finally we see Denzel Valentine put into the game, but it was too late…much too late.  The Bulls season long dumpster fire was finally put out; cue the fat lady!

I guess the first thing I’d like to say is thank you…to the Boston Celtics, for putting us out of our misery.  And the second thing I’d say to the Celtics is, enjoy this series win, because it will be your last of the 2017 playoffs.  The only reason that your weak ass team is moving on is because of how dysfunctional the Bulls are.  We were the true definition of a 500 team who earned the 8 seed.  Nothing more…not even close.

I love how it’s all about Rondo right now.  I hated the acquisition…and so did FredBerg.  He benched him earlier in the year, and now he’s singing his praises; that guy makes me sick.  Rondo earned some love from this fan for the way he handled some things during the year, such as, his aforementioned benching and the Wade-Butler leadership 101 public roasting of their teammates.  I appreciated his honesty with his comments; I have to admit, he did grow on me.  He played his best down the stretch, but let’s not pretend that this Bulls team returned to its season long suckage because he was out of the lineup.  Sure, we missed him, but give me a damn break.

What about Jimmy?  He looks banged up, certainly not 100%, and he won’t admit it, although I’m sure there will be reports eventually.  He certainly did not step up these last two games.  But I think Jimmy is the least of our worries. He is our best player, and we should be building around him going forward, you know, younger and more athletic, which means mostly everybody else on this team should GO.

Wade, that means you too. 1-10, 2 points…your sorry ass.  I need a whole separate blog to rip into you, but we’ll save that special day for when you’re no longer part of this team. Go chase a ring with your buddy Lebron next season.

Niko?  He wants to be back next year, and I’d like the Bulls to be good again, and those two things don’t go together.  Niko was never the player he was when Thibs was here…yeah, I said it.  Thibs left and so did Niko’s career arc, which currently is leading right down the toilet.  But it’s the NBA…somebody will pay him big money to stand around the 3 point line and build houses, while throwing in a bad pump fake here and there.  Niko will become another casualty of the Thibs move, just like this entire Bulls franchise.

That was the beginning of the end, and let me tell you, the end is not in sight.  I’m sick to my stomach about this Bulls team from top to bottom.  GarPax, Hoiberg, most of the roster…this series loss is not surprising one bit.

But just like this Bulls team, they kept us on the line for a bit longer with those first two wins.  And yeah, I bit…thinking if the Blackhawks could look so bad getting knocked out of the playoffs, that maybe, just maybe, this Bulls team would surprise us.  No…no…hell no.

But now it’s over, but sadly that’s not true either.  This season is over, but we’re still right in the middle of the crap, with ownership looking at the attendance and dollars instead of trying to make a change that will jump start this franchise so desperately in need of it.  Unlike even the Bears, who saw their newly minted first round pick in attendance, the Bulls have no light at the end of their tunnel.  Yes, the fat lady sang on this night, but it is far from over.  And that makes me one very pissed off Bulls fan.

Lets face it, the Bulls season was a lot better than most people expected. They made the playoffs and won two games opposite a good Boston team. With that being said here are some key moves the Bulls should make in the offseason. (realistically)

1.Bring in a special advisor to help GarPax (drafting and FA)
    2.Dump Wade and Rondo
3.Trade Jimmy. (Jimmy is a the only big name that you can get two high draft picks for, sorry, I love Jimmy, but its what’s best for the team)
4.Draft role players (don’t look for lightning in a bottle, you won’t find it)
5.Keep Hoiberg (as a transitional coach)
6.The East is VERY weak and will be for at least 3 more years (build slowly)
    7. List below are some free agents that are cheap by todays standards, young and will keep you playoff bound in the east.

Gordon Hayward: 17 mil a year, good for the long haul
Nerlens Noel: 5mil a year, good young player
Rudy Gay: 7mil a year, still has gas in the tank and a chip on his shoulder
Tim Hardaway Jr: 3mil a year, Better shooter than ppl think
Cristiano Felicio: 900K, give him a chance
Jonas Jerebko: 4mil a year, Role player
Michael Beasley: 2 mil a year, same as R.Gay
Raymond Felton: 4mil a year, stock plié those PGs
Jeff Withey: 1mil a year, 7 footer is always needed

Along with drafting quality role players, and the mix of players on the Bulls right now, this is you best and ONLY option. I really like the way Hayward plays and what he does for a team. Build around him until you have 3 years of draft picks that are solid…then dump him.

Its a 3 year plan that will keep you in the running for the playoffs and at the end of the 3 years hopefully by then, GarPax and Hoiberg will be gone.

The Bulls crashed and burned just like they have all year. A glimpse of great play, like games 1 and 2, followed by longer glimpses of reality, games 3-6. Enough blame to go from top to bottom and back up again. The 3 stooge monster known as garpaxberg is clueless and should go, but they will not because the Bulls are filling the stands and making money. This franchise is in a state of flux, just bobbing in the weak east. No light at the end of this tunnel, especially with the 3 dopes in charge. This whole Bulls roster could be turned over this offseason, including Buckets, because they would be dumb enough to make it happen. Starting guys one game to not playing them the next. Not playing games for most of the year and then starting them for big minutes. No bench rotation or clue who will play when. Dwade and rondo have to go as should niko, morrow, and mcw. There is half the roster right there. What will this offseason bring? More uncertainty for sure. Can it get worse? Sure it can. Can it get better? Not as fast as we would like. Fat lady might be singing for a long time.
