Ok, so it wasn’t the true definition of backing in the playoffs. That would have been losing their final game, and the Heat losing as well. No, I guess this was a little better than that.
It wasn’t lucky enough to play the worst team in the NBA twice in the last three games, losing the first time. The Bulls have no control of their schedule. They also have no control over what the Nets did in Game 82. They benched their best players. They cited “rest” as the reason; something has got to be done about this.
It helped the Bulls, well, at least it helped us get into the playoffs. How many people were worried about them losing to the Nets before that announcement? For the Nets to rest their best players in the final game of the season, saying they wanted the team to be healthy going into the offseason, is nothing less than a huge joke. What is the NBA going to do about this? What can they do about this?
Here’s one suggestion: pay the players per game played. Figure out what their salary is per game by taking their annual salary divided by 82 games. If players miss a game due to rest, they don’t get paid. There will be a clause in there for injuries; you can’t not pay them for those games missed. Maybe pay them a portion of their game salary for injuries…50% maybe. Imagine how much money the Bulls would have saved with Rose?

If the team makes the playoffs, the individual gets paid their game salary for every playoff game too. So making the playoffs equals more money for the player. That seems fair to me.
So if guys are ok with resting, like Lebron for instance, or all the team’s stars in that Warriors Spurs game earlier in the year, or Wade in back to back games, or these Nets who are resting in their final game of the season, then they won’t get paid. All of the examples besides the Nets would make up for it with playoff money. That could work, no?
I think it’s better than the shortened season idea. Not sure what else the NBA could do to get guys to play every game, and not punish the fans for this rest madness. Who would have ever thought of this back in the day? There had to be something else there with the Nets doing that. Maybe they’re trying to make a mockery of it to force the NBA to do something about it? Like paying back the NBA for allowing stars to rest at will during the season, maybe against their own team, at home, where the fans get screwed out of seeing the stars play after shelling out hundreds of dollars.
Ok, I’m done with it for now. Let’s get back to the Bulls, and the fact that they made the playoffs. Now I’ll be forced to watch more games this year; it’s been a painful year. Will the Bulls make anything of it? At least Wade will be playing every game now, and we’ll get a chance to see if all this rest during the season pays off; the extra rest due to an “elbow injury” should help too, right? I’ll be tuning in. Not sure what to expect, just like every game in the regular season. Hoping for some excitement. Let’s make it interesting. Go Bulls!

Bulls smash their last 2 opponents, as they should, to make the playoffs as the 8 seed against the celts. The celts feel disrespected as the #1 seed in the east while the Bulls should be relieved that they made it after a tumultuous year. Time for resting is over.
Resting…wow! I wish work gave me some days off to rest…hahaha. That time is called vacation time, and these guys get months of that after their season is over. Why the need to sit 10% of the regular season games? All the rehab, recoup machines, trainers, cooks, vitamins, supplements, and on and on…these guys still need rest? What a slap in the face to the everyday worker, especially when they pay good money to go see these players who then surprise them by sitting. Something needs to be done. Guys sit, guys dont get paid for that game…bottom line. You need a day off to rest, you should not get paid.
Bulls vs the celts…resting time is over for those that took it. Can the Bulls shock the world? I know one thing, they wont get swept! GO BULLS!!!
