Next up, at QB, for the Chicago Bears, Mark Sanchez. What a great pick up for the Bears. We’ve really found ourselves a gem here. I can’t believe nobody else had signed him yet. We will soon be calling him The Sanchise. Welcome, the Bears next franchise QB.
I hope you know I’m joking. I’ve never been a fan of Mark Sanchez. He went to the wrong college for starters; can’t stand USC. Then he went on to do nothing in the pros, as most USC QBs do. I remember seeing him play against the Bears at Soldier Field; I believe it was the day after Christmas against the Jets. My buddy had an extra ticket, and I was the choice. He sucked then, and I’m pretty sure he still sucks now.
So why am I not severely disappointed in this signing? Because we’re at least throwing some resources at the QB position. Unless somebody can tell me something I’m missing, the next Bears franchise QB was not available this year in the NFL. So the Bears did what they could to address the position, by signing Glennon, and now Sanchez. Is the Bears next franchise QB in this year’s draft?
I still don’t think the plan should change there. I still do think we should draft a QB. I still don’t think we have to at number 3… unless we’re in love with a guy. If there is a guy we’re in love with, it sounds like it’s Watson. I’ve heard some bad things about Trubinsky, and read some good stuff about Kizer, but honestly, are any one of these guys the next big thing? If anybody is, I’d have to lean Watson, solely based on his college resume, which we all know is far from equaling a great NFL QB.
Yes, the year the Bears sucked, and are in prime position to grab a QB, there are no sure fire studs. Yes, the year the Bears have a ton of money in free agency, and a vacancy at the position, there is nobody really out there that fits that franchise bill. So, we do what we can, and remember, at least it ain’t Cutler any more.

Kaepernick is still out there… as is Cutler by the way. Besides all the non football stuff with Colin, that certainly would be overlooked if his talent dictated, the football stuff isn’t good. I did a quick check: 3-17 in his last 20 games started. Pass, although he couldn’t be worse than Sanchez, could he?
Whatever, I’m fine with it. I’m not going to dog the Bears for this move. From what I can tell, we’re doing our best to address the QB position in a year where it’s not sitting there for us. We need to piece a plan together, and that’s the key: the fact that at least we seem to have a plan. It would have been nice to be acting on a plan at QB the last few years…
But no, of course not… the Bears waited until they can finally give Cutler the boot to look at alternatives. This should have already been lined up. Then we wouldn’t have been in this situation. We could have had our guy already. That I can still be mad about. That I can hold Pace responsible for. Yes, he’s doing the best he can now, but what about when he first got here?
But I’m OK. Again, just like I won’t be running out to get my son a Glennon jersey, the Sanchez jerseys I’m sure won’t be flying off the shelves. He’s a guy… one of two guys we’ve thrown at the position thus far this off season. Number 3 will be drafted. Will it all add up to a better season? Hey, at least it ain’t Cutler…

Mark Sanchez signed by the Bears. Did I feel any sort of way about it? Not really. Glennon is the starter and Sanchez will be the backup. Hopefully, he never sees the field. Never really liked the guy but he is the backup. This changes nothing for the Bears. Glennon and Sanchez are not franchise qbs. They are bandaids until the Bears find the guy. Will that be in this year’s draft? Who knows. The good thing is cutler is gone and still not signed with anyone else. That should say enough about the guy. Good riddance again and welcome glennon and sanchez. The Bears are making an effort at the qb position and should not stop now. Find a gem and get the Bears franchise on the right track.
BEAR DOWN!!!
