What’s wrong with us? That’s a pretty open ended question. This sounds more like the start of a book than just one little old blog. We can talk about the world, our country, our president, our city, our mayor, or better yet, ourselves. If everyone focused on improving on their own faults, focused on becoming a better person, our world would be a better place. That is one thing that we all have in common… faults that is. Nobody is perfect.
I’m going to try not to get too deep here, but it’s something I think about. How does it relate to Chicago sports? Well, it relates because the sports world, our teams, and the athletes that play on them, have that same trait in common. The thing about them, the athletes and their faults, is that they are put out there for all of us to see, and for all of us to judge. The bigger the star, the bigger the spotlight, the bigger the judgment. Who are we to judge? Well, some folks get paid to share their opinion; it’s their job. I don’t get paid for this yet, but since it is my blog, that’s what I do; share MY opinion. There’s nothing wrong with that right?
What’s wrong with having an open and honest conversation about something? I don’t see a problem with it. It’s all these different opinions that make the world go round. The whole right vs wrong thing is a great debate…in some cases. In some cases, it’s pretty clear cut.
Domestic abuse is one example; is there anybody who really thinks that’s OK? Sexual assault? No brainer. Calling other people names? That’s wrong too. What about Artemi Panarin’s comment about his sexual preference? And here comes the Chicago sports angle.
Racism is ugly. It’s not OK to hate someone based solely on their race; same goes for people with other religious beliefs, sexual preferences, and anything that makes someone different than us. Unfortunately, it is all too common. It makes for a very tense world at times; seemingly more tense lately.
But we know better right? I mean, we know better than to hate somebody for being different than us. I hope so. Back to that comment though… Is that what Panarin is doing here?

The best hypnotist would love his job and genuinely care for his cialis online patients. We should all be sensitive to others; another no brainer? We should think before we speak; another quality that some lack. However, I think we’ve all been there done that at some point in our lives?
Back when I was a teenager, and in my early twenties, I said a lot of insensitive things; I’ve had a lot directed my way too. That’s what people of that age do. We talk crap; we make fun of people. Regardless of the fact that I was not raised to be that way and that I should know better, I still did it; we all eventually learn that it’s not right… well, most of us hopefully. It shouldn’t be fun to talk about people. But when it’s done, the easiest target is someone’s differences. So whether it’s the color of their skin, whether they are gay, whether they aren’t the same religion, whether they’re not from my country, state, city, or neighborhood, that was what we did. That is the reality.
And today, that’s supposed to be different? Well, it’s definitely a worthwhile cause. It’s definitely worth trying to change…to make better. That’s our job as adults. That’s our job as parents. And we will give it our best shot.
I certainly can’t speak for the Bread Man, but is it that hard to believe there was no hate meant there? Do we have to turn everything into something, even a comment like this? What’s wrong with us? We need to try to be smarter than that. Not everything is that serious. But it is now. Would it get the same attention if he said he would never sleep with an overweight woman? or an Asian woman? or an American woman? Personally, back in the day that is, no women were left off my list. As someone once told me, “true players don’t discriminate”.
Fact is that now that he has made it…has become a big star…his choice of who he would or would not sleep with becomes noteworthy. Really? There isn’t enough going on, we have to dig into this? It seems a bit ridiculous. We’re going to hold this against him? We’re going to hold this against the Blackhawks? the NHL? I’m not.
Yet, he and the Blackhawks did what they thought was best to squash this. He apologized. The Blackhawks apologized. And now, we should move on. Anybody who wants to make this bigger than what it is, should apologize too. I’m sorry.

Panarin’s comment, made almost 5 years ago, was blown way out of proportion, like so many things nowadays. You cannot say or due something innocently without people questioning your motives or accusing you of being a racist or some type of basher. People are overly sensitive to everything, and the media blows everything up making things bigger than they need to be. Everybody needs to relax. Take some things with a grain of salt instead of right away assuming the worst. God forbid the words black or white are used in a sentence as an adjective. It is what it is people. Relax. Chill. Enjoy life and the people in it. Don’t make mountains out of mole hills.
