It was the 1 to the 10 to the 405 to the 105 to the 710 to the Bicycle Casino for a Sunday of Texas Hold’em and NFL playoff football. Finally, a day to play in LA before heading back home.
Pocket 9s is what I was greeted with, and a winner in my first hand was the result. It was all down hill after that. Well, not quite, but it wasn’t a winning trip. Almost broke even, so it wasn’t horrible either. It was good enough to play through the entire Packers Cowboys game; I was watching too…. maybe that’s why I wasn’t winning?
8 in a row now for the Pack after that win over the Boys. Taking the unfortunate result out of it, that was a pretty entertaining game. We actually left our table just before the end of the game; my friend just emptied this guy’s pockets at the table, so it was time to go. We wandered over to the bar, where there were a lot of Cowboys fans, but seemingly more Packers fans. I don’t quite get it; well, maybe I do.
0 NFL teams have been in LA in recent times, although now, there are 2. So with 0 teams to root for, you have to pick 1. If you have your choice of teams, you’re probably not going to pick a loser. So, pick a team that has one of the best QBs in the league, and goes to the playoffs regularly; I’m thinking that’s where all these Packer fans in LA originate from. I’m sure there are a few transplants from Wisconsin, but mostly folks hooking their bandwagon to the Packers. I guess it makes sense, although I will personally never know.
As you know, this is a Chicago sports blog. I was born into this; no choices to pick other teams not from Chicago. I’m perfectly fine with it. I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s the big 4 for me now. It does suck watching the NFL playoffs with no Bears again. When will that change?

Howard, Whitehair, and Floyd make this most recent Pace draft a great one. The one coming next has to be great too. You can’t miss with the #3 pick. Will the Bears actually use that pick?
I guess one option is trading it. I would trade it for 2-3 1st & 2nd round picks… or maybe, the Bears will trade it to get that Patriots back up QB. You OK with that? We need a QB, but if Watson is not there at 3, I’m not sure I take one there. We could certainly use a impact safety, and there is one ranked in the top 10 this year, but if not, trade down where we can snag that NC QB PLUS another top guy. That may make sense. With that #3 pick, the Bears have lots of options.
It’s really a numbers game. Like the Cubs, who stacked up on prospects, hoping to hit on some, and like the Sox this offseason, trying to duplicate those results, the Bears need to load up on talent wherever it may be. Yes, the QB position MUST be addressed, but after that, it’s get as much talent as you can in whatever position you can. Stack it up, load up… the more talented guys you have, the more likely you will get a superstar or two or three out of them. Then, we can talk playoffs again.
Until then, it’s the 405 to the 105 to LAX to ORD to 294 to 90 and home for me. Although it was a lot of work, it was a great time out here in LA. It’s time to go back home. It’s time to see what the heck has been happening in Chicago sports. I missed the big event on Monday, but thankfully, my beautiful wife recorded it for me. Yes, I watched it, and now, it’s time to blog about it. It’s a subject that will never get old. It’s the 2016 World Series Champions and they visited the White House. It was great… let me tell you about it…

3 all rookie Bears might mean good things for the future. It also means trusting pace this year with that 3rd pick. Will the Bears use it? If so, for who and what position? If not, are the Bears trading for a qb, trading down in the draft for more picks, or trading for some other position? Who knows, but I think that the Bears need more talent, so however that comes is the route they need to take. Maybe, that can happen with multiple scenarios. If watson is gone before the 3rd pick, draft D or trade down for more picks, one of which to eventually be a qb. I dont think the Bears should trade the 3rd pick for giraffalo…hahaha. For now, though, TIP it, trust in pace and BEAR DOWN!!!
