December 24, 2016: Two Different Losing Feelings

posted in: Blackhawks, Bulls | 1

I’m up, so I might as well keep it rolling.  Before I caught the end of Game 4 of the NLDS, I tuned into the two Chicago teams actually playing on this night.  It was the Bulls Hornets and Blackhawks Avalanche.  They both ended up losing; it was definitely two different losing feelings.

Let’s start with the bad variety.  When we tuned into the Bulls game, they were down 12 in the 4th quarter.  The Bulls then reeled off 6 straight points, and I thought:  we caught this game at the perfect time.  We’re about to see a nice comeback, and boy, if anybody needs it, it’s the Bulls.  Well, I should have just turned it off at that point.  But I didn’t.. and I got to see the Bulls self destruct.

Lopez lost his cool, and did a double elbow to 2 different Hornet players; it would have been a great move had this been the WWE.  This came after he had a wide open layup… and I agree with Stacey, should have been a dunk… blocked from behind.  That was followed up with Kemba Walker going right at him and laying it in.  I’d be pissed too.  I’d be pissed too if this game resembled the season.  After this loss, the Bulls now are under 500 on the year.

It’s really upsetting.  Part of that 6 point comeback that I saw was Taj muscling up some buckets.  He ended up getting ejected too, although it seemed for much, much less than Lopez.  Lopez actually had a technical foul right before that too; not exactly what you need during an attempted comeback.  But the Bulls haven’t been getting what they needed at all lately.  Seeing another loss like this… seeing Hoiberg with that look on his face, kind of like… why did I take this job?  I’m in over my head.  I don’t want to talk to the media.  What do I say?  I have no answers….  Yeah, all that rolled into one.  It’s frustrating for a fan, let me tell you, but if you’ve read my recent Bulls posts, you know all about that.  I’ll keep cheering them on.

Shortly after watching this debacle, I flipped on the Blackhawks game.  It was just in time to see Colorado score their 1st goal to tie the game.  Crawford was back in goal for this one, and I had already seen on Twitter, that he was having himself a game.  The first time he’s played in 22 games, Crow was on point.  I got to see some of those A+ saves live during that 3rd period.  He really is good… great… awesome.  We should have won this game for him.

After that Avalanche goal, the Hawks couldn’t answer.  It went to OT tied 1-1.  25 seconds later, it was over on an awesome shot by one of their youngsters.  Can’t win them all.

That’s the feeling that I had after watching the Hawks lose.  After all, they haven’t been doing a lot of that lately.  If I heard Foley correct after the game, the Hawks have only lost 6 games in regulation in their last 25.  I should check that right now, but I’m too damn tired.  Either way, we know they’ve been playing their asses off.  We know what we have in the Hawks.  It’s the complete opposite of what we have with the Bulls right now.

So I will keep cheering them on too, just like the Bulls.  That’s what us fans do.  We cheer on our teams through thick, like the Blackhawks, and thin, like the Bulls.  Let’s hope for some Ws the next time we see them.  Merry Christmas Eve and good night.

Bulls struggling and are now below .500. Maybe the playoffs will not be as easy a task as we thought. The Bulls need to figure stuff out and quick.
Bhawks welcomed Crow back, and he turned in a superb effort in his first game, but the Bhawks could not reward him with the W. They got 1 point for their troubles and get some time off to rest up and prepare for the playoff push and seeding. No worries about them, even with Hoss and Anisimov hurt right now. Get and stay healthy so you can make another push for that 4th Cup in 8 years.
