A day early for the game this week equals a day early for the preview. The 3-11 Bears, yes, 3 wins this year, will host Washington on Christmas Eve in Soldier Field. No, no, no…shows that is.
Vegas is trying to rack up some Christmas dough with the line in this game. Redskins by 3 points seems to be reeling in those Bears faders. Seems too easy, yes? Whenever it seems too easy, you’re probably on the wrong side. Using that philosophy, I like the Bears in this one.
It hasn’t been all bad. There have been some bright spots. Honestly, the defense has played well, for the most part. Lots of young guys getting experience playing under Vic. That will pay off in the long run; at least it should. It should be most of the same guys back next year, plus a draft pick or two, and a free agent or two. Continuity does have its perks.
There has been a lot of talk about that, as fans argue whether or not to can Fox. I have to admit; he’s been a disappointment. So has this whole team though. In year 2, this team took a step back, at least in the standings. Does he get another year to make good? Even after that Packers end game debacle, I’m still leaning on riding with him another year. As long as Fangio stays too… Could care less about Loggans, but for the sake of continuity, do you keep them all?
The answer is tied to that topic we talked about yesterday. Are these the coaches that can groom a drafted QB to be THE guy? And for that reason, I think maybe they should only bring back Vic. Maybe it’s time to get a young coach, with a great offensive mind. Let Fangio take care of the D, while we get a new age offensive mastermind. Oh wait, didn’t we just let one go?
Adam Gase could have fit this bill, no? Should he have stayed and Fox have gone? Which way would you go knowing what we know now? This is all stuff that will become the center of attention in a little more than 2 weeks, when the Bears watch the playoffs just like us…again.

Back to the game… the weather should actually be good. Guess we won’t have that perceived advantage. I do think the defense will hold its own, so that brings us to Barkely and the offense. Will they score enough?

Ace in the Hole: Bears defense…couple TOs and points from them
I don’t think I’ll be watching this week. Christmas Eve will be extremely busy. I will be following along wherever I’m at. Let’s get that all important 4th win… yeah, ok. Let’s pay Washington back for those couple playoff defeats in the 80s. I still remember. It’s a good old NFC matchup with 2 teams that haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 1991 season. Pretty sure that streak continues this year. Until next time…Go Bears!

Fox and vic should be back. While I dont agree with some of the coaching moves and decisions, you can only do so much if the talent is not there. Most teams that lose their starting qb, rb, wr, and half a defense for extended games are going to lose. The Bears are building on D and have not been horrible. I like to see the pressure and sacks…now just need a few more turnovers and better tackling. The O needs work, which is why loggans should go. Why is it so hard for the Bears to get a good playcaller? Makes no sense. When it comes down to it, the Bears are weak at qb and wr. The line has strengthened this year, and howard seems to be a good, could be great, rb that needs to work on pass catching and blocking.
As for the game, it was ugly…didnt think the Bears would have much of a shot in this one, and they did not. Cle, jac, and sf won…top 5 draft pick seems to be a lock. Big offseason coming for our Bears…BEAR DOWN and come through!
