December 18, 2016: It Hurts So Good

posted in: Bears | 5

Come on baby make it hurt so good…  sometimes the Bears don’t play like they should… it hurts so good.

The Bears actually played OK, but it was another painful loss.  The losses are a bit more painful when they happen vs the cheese.  The losses are more painful when we lose like that.  It all adds up to just another shitty Sunday in the Bears 2016 season.

It will all be over soon.  Two more weeks of this, before the focus shifts to next year.  Maybe that focus has already shifted for some of us?  For the players, it definitely hasn’t.

The Bears were down, but apparently not out of this game.  I was watching… I did walk to the living room and watch a little bit of Star Wars with my wife and son.  I did come back to the bedroom and nod off a bit after seeing the Bears go down 27-10.  When I woke up, which felt like days later, I looked at the TV, and saw the score 27-24.  I must be dreaming.

This is the one thing that makes this Bears team still easy to cheer for.  It wasn’t like that Trestman year, you know, the 2014 Bears that earned themselves a Hate File right here–>   http://www.thelocalsportstalk.com/december-31-2014-the-hate-files-xiii/.  These Bears still care.  They play hard.  They don’t give up.  THIS is a team I can get behind.  I’m always behind my Bears, but these guys, yeah, it’s easy to cheer for them.

The results certainly aren’t there yet, but are these still the dues we have to pay?  It definitely has been a different outcome this year then the one we all thought it would be going into it.  OK, maybe everybody didn’t think we’d have a much better year, but more than 3 wins, yes?  Yes, injuries, suspensions, they’ve hurt us.  The good thing that comes out of all this, is all the young players that get a chance to show us what they have.  We talked about it before; there are definitely some pieces here.

No, I wasn’t disappointed in the players so much during this Packer loss, but more so with the coaches.  Would you have went for it on 4th down at the end of the game?  I mean, what is there to lose?  Even if you wouldn’t have went for it, maybe run three times vs the one time we did run.  Wind the clock all the way down and leave them with no chance to win in regulation.  I would have even been OK with that.  OK, so since THAT didn’t happen, neither of those, wouldn’t you at least play some sort of prevent on defense?  OK, maybe not the first couple plays, but certainly on the 3rd down play with under 30 seconds left and the Packers with no timeouts, right?

I really don’t think the coaches are that stupid, and that makes me question what was really going on here.  What went on is that we gift wrapped another victory for that limping cheese head Rodgers.  Such crap.  There should have been zero possibility that we lose like THAT!  It was a horrible way to end a game that had me feeling pretty good.  Just another kick in the nuts delivered by our friends from the north.  Just another gut shot in another horrible season.

I’m tired of it, I really am.  I’m tired of watching these other NFL teams succeed, while we miss the playoffs year in and year out.  Yes, some may say this loss helps us with securing that 2017 draft pick; I’m not one of them, but since I have no choice, I can look at it like that… after the fact.  Some may say this season… these losses… will help make these Bears, THIS team, more motivated to do better next year.  I’d like to believe that.

I’d like to believe we’re paying some more dues.  I’d like to believe that period of time is almost over.  I’d like to believe we will start reaping the benefits and start making the playoffs on a consistent basis, and yeah, why not, win another Super Bowl.  I’d like to keep staying positive.  It’s not easy though.  I’m just glad for the Cubs… if they didn’t win, I’d still be in deep depression.  At least they still cheer me up… oh yeah, and those Blackhawks, who helped end Sunday on a high note.

But it’s our Bears that are killing me.  It’s our Bears that now own the longest drought of our Chicago sports teams.  I love to see them giving it all they got.  I’m ready to see that start paying off.  Keep Bearing Down!

After all is said and done, there is NO WAY the coaches leave Rodgers favorite target alone, in single coverage, with a rookie, with the game on the line!!! There was also no reason NOT to run the ball in instead of blowing it at the 4 and settling for a game tying fg!! Coaches???????
I like Barclay, and think he deserves to start next season as the Number 1 QB until proven unworthy. I can really only pin 1 of the 3 pics on him.

What a tough ending that I sure am glad I missed. Watched the whole first half with the Bears playing well. Then they forgot to come out of the locker room in the 3rd quarter and fell behind 27-10 before coming back to tie late in the 4th. Barkley has looked good filling in and deserves a shot at the job next year, but make no mistake, the Bears still need a franchise qb. Once again, I thought the Bears did not run Howard enough. Yes, they never gave up and are playing with heart, but all of the things that hinder this team continue to do so. Now, it seems like maybe the coaches have something to do with it. No explanation for that 60yarder to set up the winning fg. No explanation for only running once with 1st and goal at the 4. No explanation why the Bears elected to kick a fg instead of going for the win…what is there to lose, take a shot yourself instead of giving them all the control. Oh well, just another gut shot in a season full of them. 2games left and a top 5 pick should be a lock…too bad we cant say that about the Bears making the playoffs. BEAR DOWN thru another rough season!
