The baseball winter meetings have been over for a while now, but I have a feeling there is still more to come with our Chicago teams. For one of the teams, it’s a must.
And that team is not the Cubs. Yes, they’ve lost their leadoff hitter, their veteran catcher, one of their starters, and their closer. They’ve acquired another CF, one with the best active fielding percentage, and a couple bullpen arms to replace Chapman. Speaking of Chapman… now a Yankee, he talks about being misused. I first found about it when my friend sent me a text… as if to say, look, see… the haters are ready to pounce on anything negative for the Cubs. But you know what… I don’t care.
I don’t care what Chapman said. We all second guessed Joe a few times in the postseason, but at the end of the day, a guy like Chapman, needs to get more than 3 outs per game. And he did. And I will always be thankful for that, and will always fondly remember Aroldis. The fact that he opened his mouth now doesn’t bother me at all. He really didn’t say anything that bad… But the bottom line here, is that the Cubs won… nothing else matters. Not who we get rid of, or who we get. Not who says this or who says that. The Cubs are World Champions, and they aren’t going anywhere. Hate on that.
On the other side of town, the Sox have again, made the biggest off season splash thus far. Remember the last couple years? They were deemed the winners of the offseason; yeah, how’d that work out? But, they’re going about it a different way this time, and I like it. They dumped Sale & Eaton and stock piled some young talent. They signed Holland, who I like. I just hope there is more to come from the Sox.

Don’t stop half way. Yes, you have bolstered your system from the bottom to the top third. Yes, you have got younger, and there are the makings of a long term plan. But, keep going. Frazier should be gone. Robertson gone. Melky gone, if anybody wants him. Quintana? Move him too. Unless…. they think they can compete at the major league level right now.
Not sure about that. They started like gangbusters last year, but faded to the basement from there on out. Now, they dumped their lead off hitter and best fielder and their number one pitcher. The pieces they got in return are great, but aren’t going to help them this year. So I say keep trading. Does the other team have to over pay, like the Nationals did for Eaton? They shouldn’t have to. That would be great, but, but… if there is a player you have your eye on… a hot prospect that you are in love with… take a shot. I think they will. They should.
The Cubs aren’t going anywhere. The Sox are trying to get young and get to that level… everybody is. Good luck to them and everybody, but now that the focus is off the curse and the lovable losers, it’s time to repeat. Will the Cubs go wire to wire as World Series favorite to World Series champion two years in a row? Like I said, more to come.

Was not happy when I read the headline about chapman, but after reading the article, it was a non issue. Chapman said what everyone has thought from the time all of it happened. Bottom line, he was probably misused and tired, but he did what he had to to get the Cubs the WS W, just like Maddon did. Maddon wanted his best out there and got it. It caught up to him, chapman, and the Cubs in game 7, but we all know how that turned out so the dicussion is pointless. Cubs are World Series Champions regardless of who says what now (miggy, chapman, who’s next?). Chapman got his big payday back with nyy, and the Cubs broke the longest drought ever. More to come for this Cubs team is right! GO CUBS GO!!!
