October 17, 2016: NLCS Off Day

posted in: Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs | 1

OK.  Time to take a breath.  The Cubs are travelling to the West Coast tied 1-1 in the best of 7 NLCS with the Dodgers.  So what else has been going on?

The Bears have been the Bears, and if we’re talking recent history, that’s not good.  If we’re talking this year, give me the barf bag.  Yeah, I had the game on Sunday.  Not sure if it was because I was recovering from the epic Cubs victory the night before, mentally preparing for Game 2 on Sunday night, or because I just don’t care about the Bears right now, the Bears game has become more like background noise.  It’s not like I’m sitting there zoned in on every snap.  If there’s one Chicago team that has me the most frustrated, it is the Bears.

How did we get here?  I would live and die on every snap; watch every single minute of every game.  I wouldn’t move off that couch.  Now, I can barely watch.  I think I’m trying to save my emotions; since I’m all in right now on this Cubs run, there is no time to waste any energy on the Bears, especially because it’s ALL negative.  I’m so pissed about the Bears, I hate even talking about them.

Yes, they were competitive… which seems to be the buzz word for the Bears, like that’s a good thing.  “Well, at least they were competitive”  That’s some bullshit.  It’s the Jaguars for God’s sake.  We’re at home for crying out loud.  We led the game, but it was one of those games that felt like it was in the bank, but was only a 2 score lead.  And that’s never a good thing, especially when you’re not a good team.  Let them hang around, hang around, and BAM… it happened.  It was like the Cubs in Game 1 of the NLCS, except the Bears didn’t have Montero marching out on the field to save their ass.  It was pathetic.  The Bears are pathetic.  I’m done talking about them.

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks got their first victory of the season on Saturday night.  Yes, there was a hockey game going on too.  I didn’t see one play; I did see that Panik had a hat trick, and I know he scored the first goal of the season, so at the very least, he has 4 goals on the year; yes, math is my strong suit.  Next, I will perform simple multiplication.  So the Blackhawks, after starting 0-2 under Coach Q for the first time ever, they get 2 points.  Not worried… long way to be worried… season just beginning… not even on my radar yet, although I did catch the anthem in the opener.  Must watch TV always.

The Bulls are in the middle of their preseason schedule, but more interestingly, pulled off a trade sending Tony Snell to the Bucks for Maurice Carter Williams, or Michael Carter Williams as he is better known by (late edit).  I saw some people bitching about the move; why?  Were you really emotionally tied to Snelly Cat?  Bye Felicia.  Yes, he had some moments, but nothing to make me go out and buy the number 20 jersey.  Worst thing about this trade, is that I’m going to have to teach my son another Bulls player, and explain to him that Tony Snell, the Bulls player name that was assigned to our dog, is gone.  Guess the dog gets to be a new player this year; I’m still locked in as Niko.

So there, a quick run around the city’s other teams right now, because, you know it’s all about the Cubs.  OK, back to the Cubs… NLCS Game 3 is next.

Did not watch any of the Bears game…go figure. Too much riding on the Cubs to care about a 1-5 Bears team. Keep losing so you can draft a top qb next year. Disgusting and could be for another year or two. D has a first half shutout. Hoyer throws for 300+ again, but somehow the Bears lose…ouch!
Bhawks regular season has started, and I have not seen one play. Heard they gave up 3 pp goals in nashville. Usually takes the pp and pk teams some time to get up to speed so not worried there.
Bulls make a trade…1 useless guy for another. Maybe mcw will fit with the Bulls. He has shown flashes just like snell. He will be rondo’s backup so not a real earth shaker here. Either way, Bulls are at the bottom of my list right now. Pretty much everything else is behind the Cubs. Time to grab the series back tomorrow night!
    GO CUBS GO!!!
