September 22, 2016: Clear Calendar

I woke up and saw it was September 22nd.  I thought… what was going on today?

The 22nds are usually pretty busy days.  Last month it was my birthday that I share with my parents’ anniversary.  Next month it’s one of my friends that I’ve known for 35 years.  January, February, April are all birthdays in my family.  What was special about September 22nd?  There had to be something…

The Cubs didn’t play.  So it was another stress free day there; no worries yet about the postseason.  That will change dramatically come the start of the playoffs.  It’s like the calm before the storm right now.

The Sox didn’t play… or did they?  I’m sure there are folks still watching them… trying to personally decide who they should and shouldn’t keep going into next year.  Not like our opinions will matter much.  At the end of the day, you have to trust in the team’s management.  Sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesn’t.

Speaking about not working out, how about the Bears season thus far?  And now, heading into week 3, against another rookie QB, the Bears show 15 players on the injury report.  Can it get any worse?

The Bulls and Blackhawks are still in their off seasons, although there was some hockey going on with the World Cup of Hockey.  I haven’t been following, but I did hear the US is done… winless in this tourney.  I did catch some stuff on Twitter about Toews scoring a goal, and Crow starting in goal.  The Hawks will be back before you know it.  So will the Bulls.  I’ll probably check out a road game to head to again.  Only made it to Milwaukee so far; the schedule didn’t work out for Indianapolis last year.  Need to check that out.

There was Thursday night Football on the TV; I didn’t watch one snap.  Is my love for football on the decline?  It’s hard to say.  The Bears sucking, and all the teams that I hate doing well, doesn’t help the cause.  Plus, everybody and their mother loves football nowadays… it’s sort of like, it’s too popular now.  I wonder how popular it will stay with all the concussion information out there.  Do you want your kids playing football long term?  It’s a tough decision… one that my wife has already made for ours.  I’m not completely closing the door yet, after all, we could have a Steve Young on our hands… because he’s lefty, not because of the teams he played for.  OK, or Ken Stabler if you prefer… Jim Zorn is another lefty QB I can think of… is there anybody currently out there that wings it from the left side?  Cade McNown comes to mind… Todd Maranovich…  OK, let’s stop.  I was good with the first comparison.  Oh yeah, one more… Bobby Douglas ex-Bears QB!

Work wasn’t too bad… it seems to be getting a little better… for now.  This 22nd day of September, this Thursday, passed by pretty uneventfully…   But hey, it’s one day closer to the weekend, and that can’t be a bad thing, right?  Bears preview is next.

All about the Cubs right now. Regular season winding down. Playoffs up next. Going to be very exciting and nervous times.
Bears are who everyone thought they were, an average at best squad. Hard to watch through 2 games.
Bulls and Bhawks around the corner, but they can wait right now.
Couple other lefty qbs, boomer esiason and mark brunell.
