Remember I wanted the Cubs to start losing some games? Well, they did. They dropped the last two games of the Dodgers series. I’m not mad.
How can I be? Getting what you want is always a good thing…I think. As long as you know what’s good for you, and sometimes that’s questionable. But this whole Cubs losing thing…I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m ok with it.
It helps to be the best team in baseball. It helps to have a double digit division lead. It helps that we still had a winning road trip at 5-4. Sprinkle in a couple losses every once in a while; it won’t hurt anybody.

Lose now, not later. Get all slumps out of our system. When the second season begins, it’s a total laser focus. No room for error. Time to play our A game each and every game. If we do that, we will be the World Series champs.
There will be no tipping of the cap to some other team. If we don’t win, it will require a hard look in the mirror. Again, we lose if we beat ourselves; there is no team better than us. So Joe will earn his money down the stretch.
Keeping guys rested yet sharp. Keeping everybody happy with their role on this team, both in the regular season and the postseason; they could be different. If there is any time where it’s team above self, it’s October. Just to be in the dugout, to have been a part of this team to any extent, is worth more than any personal desires. Take note Tommy, Jason.
I get it. Everybody thinks they’re great and thinks they know best. Kind of like me thinking I know what I want is best. It doesn’t matter! It’s being a part of the grand plan. Winning road trip at 5-4. That is pretty much all the Cubs need to now. Play .500 ball and get ready for the playoffs. Maddon will keep things on track and set the Cubs up for October. Now back home to Wrigley for 7 games against the bucs and dwarfs. Time to show them why the Cubs are the best in baseball!
GO CUBS GO!!!
