July 27, 2016: Peeking Out

posted in: Cubs, White Sox | 3

Hi.  It’s just me.  Peeking my head out.  Just to say hey… how’s it going?  Rough couple days?  Yep, how about you?

It’s been a shit storm lately, a la Kingpin, for those of you that know.  So no, I haven’t exactly been hiding because the Sox beat the Cubs two times in the Cell.  Yes, that’s added to it, but no, I haven’t been in hiding.

I hate when the Cubs lose… period.  I hate when the Cubs lose to the Sox even more.  I try to not let it bother me.  Monday I was pretty locked in to the whole game; Tuesday not as much.  I try to do other things to distract me from getting angry watching the Sox beat the Cubs.  As for tonight’s game in Wrigley, I may not see any of it; hoping for some positive text updates.  Now Thursday will be a different story…

Yes, I will be live and in the flesh at Wrigley to see Chris the Cutter in person as the Cubs will hopefully be looking to even the series and NOT avoid the sweep.  Either way, it will be awesome to be in Wrigley again; this is definitely an unexpected visit.

Hey, why do the Sox get the CrossTown Cup after winning only 2 games?  I know there’s some kind of rule there, but I’m too lazy to look it up.  Not that it matters any, but still seems kind of stupid when there are still 2 games to play, and the series could end up being tied.

Saw the pictures the Sox took with that Cup last night.  Enjoy it boys…  Like I said earlier, this is THE biggest series of the year for you.  Actually, winning is just teasing Sox fans.. cruelly teasing them.  This is a 500 team, literally after Tuesday night’s win.  Why can’t the Sox play at this level every night?  Why can’t the Cubs get a hit with runners in scoring position?  Just a couple questions running through my head these past few nights.

Some others are why did Kris Bryant get thrown out at 2nd twice?  Why does Tyler Salaweenie play extra good against the Cubs?  When will Jason Heyward begin to hit?  It’s damn frustrating, that’s for sure.

Well, let me try to put some silver lining on it like only I can.  At least it’s not the Cardinals or Pirates beating us.  At least we’re losing games like this in July not October.  At least this series will not define our season.  Any more anyone?

But yeah, I’m pissed… and yeah, I’m worried.  I don’t like seeing the Cubs not come through in close games, and not being able to hit with runners in scoring position.  Those are the top worries of the day for me.  Hopefully that will change in these next couple games.  After all, the 2nd half did start with 3 straight series wins.

I know it’s still 0-0 in tonight’s game; next time I’ll check in is about an hour.  Hoping to hear good news.  Don’t text me with bad news… only good news.  I don’t want to get pissed off more.  So come on Cubs… let’s step it up.  Let’s do what we should be doing to teams like this, and that’s beating them… winning series.  I’ll settle for a push now.  Go Cubs!

the cup ‘stays’ south this year because a tie goes to the cup holder from last year. i don’t like it either. take turns having a 3rd game at home, thereby making it a 5 game series ensuring a ‘winner’. i’m glad we won those 1st 2 games, but sorry it had to be at the expense of the cubs. we’ll see what happens tonite and tomorrow and then going forward through the rest of the season…….

Like I said, so much for records and standings. The Cubs seem to have forgotten how to hit bad pitching, making gonzalez and shields look like all stars. Oh well, these games are more important to the sox because even after dropping the first two, the Cubs still hold the best record in the league. Now there is some silver lining. Even still, it would be nice to see the Cubs win the next two to even the series, but it would not be the end of the world if they didnt, that will come in October when they do win it!
    GO CUBS GO!!!
