June 14, 2016: Until Next Time

Where the hell were we?  I forgot how far I fell behind, but we’re back now… and oh yeah, as usual, there’s plenty to talk about.

Let’s start with my favorite topic:  the Cubs.  After being shutdown by Mad Max on Monday, they bounced back on Tuesday with a big win.  Speaking of Mad Max, everybody loves that original movie right?  OK, and the remake that came out last year.. what’d you think of that?  Well, on Oscar night, after it kept winning award after award, my wife was to the point of never watching the Oscars again, with a remake… a REMAKE winning all these awards.  Thankfully, Leo won the Best Actor Oscar… disaster averted.

Back to Tuesday, and the next young Cub in line, Albert Almora Jr. stepped up and got the game winning double in the 9th.  Awesome moment for the kid.  I remember when the Cubs drafted him…  It was Theo’s first draft pick with the Cubs.  I remember watching a feature on him, and how his father built him a batting cage in his back yard.  I remember thinking… this kid is a natural… playing baseball since a very young age, having a batting cage in his backyard… I wonder how many balls he hit.  Well, he hit one good one on Tuesday, and the Cubs evened the series.

But wait, there’s more… Rolling right along to Wednesday, it was Almora right in the middle of it again with a potentially game winning run in the 12th.  This was after Rizzo hit the potentially game winning 2 run HR in the 9th.  Yeah, the Cubs blew both of those leads.  Strop gave up a run in the 8th to give up the lead, and Rondon gave up a run in the 9th to send the game to extras.  Not sure why Cahill was still pitching in the bottom of the 12th… maybe 13th (?), but he was… and he gave it up.  And no, I won’t complain about getting squeezed in the 9th in that Bryce Harper at bat.  All those complaints about us walking him, and he’s taking borderline 2 strike pitches.  That’s on you bro, you big whiner.  But, the umpire hooked you up, and you got on base… and scored the game tying run.  He’s a great talent, but not THAT great.. at least not against us.

On the other hand, durable ED is actually a result of some physical too as psychological components. viagra online india So yeah, we’ll have to settle for 5 wins in 7 games against these guys.  And look, I know the Cubs celebrate every win in the clubhouse, and I know the Cubs concluded the 4 game sweep over the Nats at home with the Baez walk off dinger, but that celebration wasn’t that crazy.  I mean, it was a walk off extra inning HR, but all we did was jump around home plate.  Did you see how the Nationals celebrated yesterday?

I did… and I was a little shocked.  I mean, Werth, who got the game winning hit took off running into the outfield, and then went on some cursed rant afterwards, which I have not heard yet.  Then there was the bastard Murphy jumping around in the middle of the infield all by himself… jumping and jumping and jumping.  You know what… good.

It was good that we lost this game.  It was good because it brought us back down a bit.  I mean, 6 out of 7 would have been awesome, but maybe too much domination.  To do that to the 2nd best team in the majors would have swelled our heads a bit… maybe…. we’ll let our major league leading record continue to do that.  Secondly, it was good to have a “tough” loss… in the regular season.  It’s necessary.  It’s necessary so this year’s team knows how it feels… and at all costs avoids it when it counts.  That’s why last year’s series loss against the Mets was good… I think.

There’s still much to be written about this year, but until next time… we’ll keep that vision of the Nationals celebrating in our minds… give us that little extra edge the next time we meet… I’m glad the Nationals got their celebrating out of the way, because IF we meet, there’ll be none of that going on on that side.  See you in October bitches.

Almora seems to be the next in a long line of talented, young Cubs prospects. He is making his case for staying on with this year’s team. Strop, Rondon, and Cahill let leads go, but I cannot believe how the nats were celebrating. Werth seemed like he was high on something other than the game winning hit, and dbag murphy continues to get under my skin with his infield jumping like a kid on a trampoline. Enjoy you tools…cant wait to kick your ass 4 out of 7 when it matters!
