Last time I was there, was Jake’s 20th win. Today, I’m going back to Wrigley.
Yeah, thought this series with San Diego would be a good time to make my first appearance. Figured tickets for these weeknight games vs the Padres in May would be reasonable; they were. I thought StubHub had wrapped all their fees into the ticket price… I swear I thought they changed that. So expecting to pay $20 for 2 tickets, turned into $30… still a good deal.
It really doesn’t matter where I sit. It’s just me and my boy tonight, and we’ll be wandering. Just wanted to make sure we were on the lower concourse, and we are… in section 229. I can’t wait.
The weather is supposed to be good. Now that the fog is burning off, and the rain is done… at least until around midnight tonight, and the temperature will be in the 60s, the conditions are good enough to take my son. I would go in any conditions. Rain, cold.. it doesn’t matter to me. It could be a weekday, weeknight… whatever… heading to Wrigley is always fun.
I’m excited to see this 25-6 team in person for the first time. I sure hope they don’t lose tonight. Lackey will be on the mound, and although he’s undefeated, he’s been tagged a bit. First thing is first, the first half of the split doublheader with Hendricks throwing. I hope tonight will be the 10th consecutive victory for the boys.

It’s like once I purchased the tickets, I can’t concentrate on anything else. It’s not like I go to a ton of Cubs games. It was a different feeling when we had Bulls season tickets. When you go to every single game, you don’t get as hyped up. Maybe that going to a game in person luster wears off a bit. I’d like to say that would never happen with the Cubs… even if one day, I did have season tickets. Going to Wrigley is one of my favorite things to do.
I can never understand people who dislike Wrigley. How can you? It’s baseball at its purest. Yeah, there’s some advertisements around now, and lots of improvements going on, but being there is just awesome. I love the Sox fans who say they would never step foot in Wrigley… that’s just stupid. You hate the Cubs that much, you can’t go to a game at Wrigley? Do you hate Pearl Jam too?
See, I like baseball period. I love to check out all the stadiums, and I have checked out a number of them. I will go to a Sox game this year too at some point; I don’t avoid the stadium because the Cubs are my team. Still, I haven’t been to Fenway yet, but out of all the parks I’ve been to, Wrigley is still the best. Biased? Yep, but honestly, I love the old parks better. I like Dodger Stadium a lot too. I liked the Old Comiskey.
How many games will I attend this year in person? I’m thinking about 5… hopefully 1-2 road games included… hopefully a game in late October included. This will be my first visit to Wrigley this year, but certainly not the last.
So, time to get my son’s Lester jersey ready, and my 22 one. Time to figure out parking, and maybe stop for a pre-game slice. Game time is about 7 hours away… Go Cubs!

Nothing like baseball at Wrigley, especially now with all of the improvements being made. Like you said, live baseball is great no matter where it is played. Grew up going to comiskey a lot more than wrigley but watched a lot more Cubs on wgn. Wrigley is a baseball shrine, and the atmosphere around it makes it that much better.
