March 8, 2016: Record Breaking

Records are meant to be broken…

The Bulls broke a record the other night against the Bucks.  They won 100-90.  What record did they break?  The 16 games in a row that they had allowed 100 points or more in a game.  Thank you Jesus.  How pathetic was that streak?  Trying to change to a run and gun philosophy isn’t quite working out so well; losing our defensive identity is one of the biggest things that sucks about this year.  I remember when they did play defense…

That was last year under Thibs.  Oh yeah, he also didn’t whine as much about injuries…  We counted on our defense to win us games… many games, including beating Golden State in Golden State last year.  I remember that game vividly… I wrote about it right here. http://www.thelocalsportstalk.com/january-28-2015-come-out-and-play/  It was an awesome game, and it was the last time the Warriors had lost at home.  Speaking about breaking records… those bastards broke the Bulls home win streak.  Why do I feel myself start to hate these guys?

Anyways, that game against the Warriors… that win last year… was vintage Thibs Bulls.  Please, read all about it above; I actually even got a shout out from Stacey King on that post.  But now, we’re left being happy about holding opponents under 100 for the first time in 16 games.  Or better yet, just happy to get that home win when scoring 100 points… BIG MAC time.

Did you see that video of the kid when Moore sunk that final free throw to give us 100?  Classic.  The whole crowd was going nuts.  I’ve talked about that before here.  It is a big deal you know.

It’s a big deal to break a record too; some bigger than others.  One I thought that would NEVER fall is the 72-10 mark, that is very much in danger now.  I am starting to hate those Warriors.  If they break the record, I may have to make it official.  Until then, I’ll root for them to win 71 games… and not one more.  OR, if they do break the record, then I’ll have to root for the Spurs to take them out… and eliminate the whole “best team ever” discussion.

I don’t want to be like this, but I just can’t help it.  I’m very defensive of the glory years… same thing with the 85 Bears, and at some point with this Hawks team.  These sports glory years brough so many good memories, and anything that tries to take some shine away from it, although nothing will truly be able to, I despise.

So breaking records is inevitable.  I hope the Bulls can focus on some other kind of record breaking, while I hope the Warriors fall short in their quest.  On to the next one…

It is about time the Bulls snapped giving up 100+ points. How could that be acceptable to go on for so many games? Makes no sense. Have some pride and d up the guy you are guarding. Basketball games are won on the defensive side of the ball…keep that in mind as you push to make the playoffs!
