Waited long enough I think. Since they’re already playing some ball down in spring training, I think it’s about time we talk some baseball. This year, instead of battling for 100 losses, will both Chicago baseball teams be battling for 100 wins? Chicago hope is alive and kicking.
What would we do without it? Where would we be without a little hope…a little faith? I’d hate to imagine a life without it. It’s what keeps you going in the tough times. It’s what excites you about the future. Next to love, it’s the most important thing. Ok.. so how we feeling about our baseball teams?
The Cubs are the World Series favorites. Let me repeat that. The Cubs are the World Series favorites. That may not necessarily be a good thing, but it damn sure ain’t a bad thing. They’re not sneaking up on anybody this year. One publication has them winning 102 games! I’ll take the under on that.
I think the Cubs are going to have a great year. As a die hard Cubs fan, I couldn’t be, well, I could be more excited, but I’m pretty damn stoked. I like the Heyward signing, although I think he may be a tad overrated. Lackey was a good one too, although I still think our starting pitching from 1-5 could be stronger. And what about those Sophomore slumps? You think our super rookies will be immune to that? As the league gets the book on them, they’ll have to adjust. I believe they will, but how soon? I’m not giving my win loss predictions yet, but it will be less than 102, that’s for sure.

Yet, that was not the most shocking news from that publication when it came to the Chicago teams. 90 wins for the Sox? Whoa. I’m going under again. I do think they’ll be better…heck, you can’t be much worse. I’m thinking mid 80s right now, so I guess 90 isn’t too much of a stretch. Frazier was a nice pickup, although they did give up a lot, and he did have a bad second half last year. I like that sneaky Latos signing. Starting pitching is definitely a strength for the Sox, as long as Danks ain’t in there. Sale, Quintana, Rodon, and Latos appear good on paper. Will Frazier add enough to the offense? Will Brett Lawrie contribute? What about Adam Laroche?
We’re just scratching the surface here. So much more baseball to talk. Heck, we may still see an offseason addition or two. We still may not have that final product. It’s exciting no doubt. There is no shortage of hope on either side of town. An all Chicago World Series? I’d like to see somebody predict that…

i like both teams.
cubs….i would have liked to see the cubs add another mound horse, but they should still lead the pack in the nl. madden should be able to coach the sophs thru any slumps.
sox…..i like the additions, but dump laroche and move danks to the pen. i like danks, but he’s just not consistent, and when he’s off, we’re in an early hole. i like quintana, but need to give him an early lead to play with as he generally weakens as the game goes on. pen always a question mark lately down south. still think above 500 this year.

Cubs need to play this year just like last…relaxed and loose. Now that the pressure is really on this year, I hope maddon is able to keep the Cubs together, this time all the way until the end. This could finally be the year, stay healthy, avoid long slumps, and add an arm or two at the deadline, and WIN!!!
Here’s to the 2016 Cubs flying a hell of a lot W flags all year, including the last game of the mlb season!
