December 11, 2015: Week 14 Redskins at Bears

What a difference a week makes. Going into last week’s matchup with the Niners, possibilities were endless. The world was ours. We were about to make our run. Now, reality has set in. This Bears team is average and there will be no postseason again in Chicago.

500 would be a successful year considering what the expectations were coming into the season. That is still a possibility. They will need to finish 3-1 to make that happen and that starts this week at home against the Skins. Home has not been where the heart is for Da Bears.  That would be nice to see. Getting a win in front of the faithful.

So Vegas says Bears -3. I think that’s about right. Basically a pickem with home field factored in.  I’m not sure how I feel in that aspect. I took one in the gut last week with the Bears losing, and I took one on the chin with my ATS picks. I’ll talk about that more later. I am not feeling too confident in either of those right now.

What about those Redskins?  I thought RG3 would be great for a while.  He’s far removed from being the starter.  Kind of like Colin Kaepernick, he’s a guy I’d like to take a shot at.  Either way, I think both these guys will find success in the NFL again.  Cousins is no chump, but overall this team is like the Bears…very average.  The difference is one of these very average teams in the NFC East will win that division and make the playoffs; this Washington team still has that hope.  For that reason, I think we may be in trouble.

They still have something to play for…the Bears?  Well, finishing on a high note would lead nicely into next season.  Is that enough for these guys to finish strong? I’m not so sure.

And back to the Redskins for a second, and the whole name thing. There’s been a lot of talk on the local air waves this week, athough overall that seems to have faded nationally. It has been their name forever, but just more recently our overly sensitive society has taken notice.  It’s a slang name for Indians, and some people take offense to slang names… some are definitely worse than others.  Personally I don’t have a problem with any of the multiple slang names people could call me…you know, the whole sticks and stones thing.  If they named a team after one of them, maybe I’d think it was ok instead of protest against it.  People could take offense to anything and everything.  I’m thinking there are bigger things to get fired up about than the name of a sports team.  On to the prediction…
