November 25, 2015: Why

posted in: Blackhawks, Bulls | 1

It’s a simple question really. It’s the first inquisitive word for most kids. Why:  for what reason or purpose. Why why?

I just don’t understand things sometimes.  This is why I stick to talking about my teams; I know a little something about it. Other things in this world just boggle my mind.

I wanted to stay up and watch the Bulls Blazers game, but that didn’t happen. I wanted to catch the Hawks tonight, but that didn’t happen either.  Why?  I was too tired for the Bulls and was too busy for the Hawks. I’m glad they both won, but the news that dominated our city over the past 2 days has been something not related to our teams. It was the shooting of a 17 year old kid that led to protests in our streets. Why?

Why shoot a kid 16 times?  I challenge anybody to answer that question. There is no excuse for that. If as a policeman you felt your life was in danger, or the welfare of an innocent citizen was at stake, then you have to make that type of decision…the one that hopefully many of us do not have to ever make.  So you decide to fire your weapon; fine… We’re supposed to trust you to do that. But 16 times?  Was this kid the terminator or something?  Seriously.  You violated our trust.

This cop should go down for this.  He was a bad cop. I heard some report saying that the majority of all complaints against the police are filed towards 6% of the force. 6%!  So you’re telling me that 90+% are doing a pretty decent job… But because of this loose cannon, who was in this 6%, who had multiple complaints on his record…because of this person horrible at their job, horrible at a job where lives are at stake, all cops take a hit.

The impotence in men may enter into men in various reasons such as excessive intake of alcohol; excessive cheap viagra masturbation in childhood, the side effect of any medicine, aging etc. are the main cause of heart problems. Generic Diovan has the affinity to explore the trails of the area, others take courses paired yoga / exercise bike, other, generic levitra vardenafil finally, resort to this mode of purchasing. If you are seriously concerned about purchasing this drug in person, online buying can be generic viagra the result. Reports state that this is the most common thyroid disorders found in levitra cheapest men are hyperthyroidism (when the thyroid is over productive), and hypothyroidism (when the thyroid is under productive). We’ve seen it all too often before. Because of one bad apple, or a few bad apples, an entire group of people are impacted. Birds of a feather if you may.  This is unfortunate. There are way too many good people in this world to react this way. At least that’s what I believe… But sometimes I’m told I’m living in a fantasy world.

So this 17 year old lost his life. Now he wasn’t completely innocent here either.  Partaking in some PCP will most likely lead to bad things, and this cost him the ultimate.  How many teens make bad choices?  Here’s a hint…. All of them.  Some may pay the ultimate price fairly or unfairly for them, and others get to learn from them and move on. This is the worst part about this story. But there’s more…

It’s a white cop black kid thing.  The media eats this stuff up. Like we don’t have enough issues to deal with, without the media pushing this stuff. It’s like they’re pitting us against each other.  Because you’re black you’re a criminal, because you’re white, you’re racist, and round and round we go.  We need to be smarter than this. We can’t fall into that all too familiar trap.  It’s about the race thing for a lot of people, it’s also about the violence.

Why?  It’s about what sells. Racism stuff spreads like wildfire and everybody loves their violence. Take our city for instance. You would think we’re living in the Wild West, or Chi-Raq as the new term goes. The truth is, is that crime, murder is way down in our city. 20 years ago there was about twice as much.  Back in the day, you didn’t hear about a lot of them. So if there were 700 murders, you maybe heard of 50. Now if there are 300 murders, you hear of 200. Although things seem worse, they’ve actually gotten better. Although things have gotten better, they’re still bad.

How do we fix it?  That’s a story for another day. I have my ideas. I do think about things other than my Chicago sports teams.  What I can tell you is that it sucks for anybody to lose their life, whether it’s a baby dropped from the 2nd floor window, a 9 year old executed in an alley, a 17 year old on PCP, or anyone of the number of people who lose their life every weekend in our town, it’s never a good thing.  Life is too precious… A lot of us forget that.  So take advantage of your life and be the best you can for as long as you can.  Life is a blessing and can be taken from us in a moment’s notice. Let’s concentrate on living…together…in peace. Do I really have to explain why?
