I knew it. OK, I had a pretty good feeling. I really liked the Bears in this spot against the banged up Chargers. It was a battle of who sucked the least, and we prevailed. Yay!
As you know, I think the Bears are better than their record indicates; not much better, but a little better. I predicted 8-8 at the start of the season; I’m still holding to that, although 7-9 is more likely. But forget about all that… it’s time to enjoy this victory.
It didn’t feel good to start off the game with Gould missing a FG. Then when we saw him miss another; it was shocking. The most consistent Bears player of the last 5 years let us down twice. Thankfully, it didn’t matter. We forgive you Robbie.
Let’s start with Cutler. He broke the Bears passing TD franchise record. Before we get all crazy with the accolades, let’s compare him with Luckman just for a second. Now, I won’t act like I saw good old Sid play one snap, but he did play in an era where the running game was king; he was actually described in wikipedia as the “best long range passer” of his time. Hilarious. He threw his 138 TD passes in about 1,700 attempts. Oh by the way, he also helped lead the Bears to 4 NFL championships. Meanwhile, it took Mr. Cutler almost 3,000 attempts to reach 139, then 140 tonight with Da Bears. And yes, he’s only won 1 playoff game in his illustrious postseason career. Still, congrats are in order for this franchise that has been QB dry.
I really dislike Cutler, but… this year… he’s been OK. He’s been one of our best players, as he should be. He definitely is turning in a respectable year. Let’s not worry about all those years up to this point, where he has been a major disappointment. Let’s try to keep focused on the here and now. I’m liking what I’m seeing from #6. Keep it up Jay.

He didn’t start off tonight welll either, but recovered nicely to have a big game. I like how he just posts up these smaller CBs to make his grabs. He could have had that early TD, and dropped an easy enough 3rd down conversion, but overall, good grades for Mr. Jeffery.
And how about the defense? Yes, a turnover… yes! Yes, we dropped an INT at the end of the game, but it was academic. The forced fumble was a key turning point in this game. The Bears turned that into 6. Yet, right after that score, a big penalty by none other than Lamarr Houston kept the Bolts drive going. But wait there’s more. A big sack on the last drive, another penalty, and then another sack punctuated a very good night for the DE. I was just happy he didn’t hurt himself celebrating. Now that his value is up, it’s time to move him…haha.
Then there’s the catch. Yes, it’s not in an NFC championship game or Super Bowl, but for Zach Miller and these 2016 Bears it was a big one. Sweet, sweet one handed catch. Then there’s Langford. He made up for his dropped pass at the end of last week’s game with a bunch of catches, and overall big game. This definitely clears the way out of here for Forte. No, I don’t like that, but yes, I do think it’s going to happen. I never understood why we were such in a hurry to move Forte, our best player. At least we have somebody in waiting, unlike the QB position.
So we spent Monday night winning… beating the lowly Chargers… getting that 3rd win of the season. Don’t get too excited, we go to St. Louis next. I think we’re in trouble in that one, but do think we can make strides from here on out. Playoffs? Uh, no. But striving for 500 is respectable in this “rebuilding” year.
I’m just happy to get a win. I don’t subscribe to that philosophy of losing games to get a better draft pick. You NEVER want to lose, period. We fans cherish every win we get in this short 16 week season, especially those on national TV. The Bears didn’t embarass us like last year’s team, giving me more reason to like this team, no matter how little talent we have. We’re coached well. We play hard. We give it our all. Nothing wrong with that. And nothing wrong with winning once in a while either… Nice win boys! Enjoy it for a second, then back to work. Bear Down!

Cutler and alshon looked like they took the same sleeping pill thata didnt wear off until after the 1st quarter. Cutler fumble and pick, alshon drops and bad route. Thankfully, both turned it around and had great games! They are the most talented guys on offense and need to play that way all 4 quarters. The Bears are not talented enough to take any quarters off. Langford also had a nice bounceback game. He definitely looks like the heir in waiting behind forte. The defense kept us in it, and even with gould letting us down twice, the Bears overcame! Nice win boys…what a catch zach! Enjoy the win and go get another one in stl…tough but winnable!
BEAR DOWN!!!
