September 22, 2015: The Mecca

The Cubs are in the middle of their last homestand of the regular season. With a victory last night, they’re 3-1. 2 more with milwaukee, 3 with Pittsburgh, and 1 with Kansas City wraps up this year’s schedule at Wrigley. We’re all hoping there will be more games played in the postseason here.

Have you ever been to Wrigley Field?  If not, you got to go. It should be on everybody’s bucket list…Cubs fan or not. If you have been there, then you know what I’m talking about.

It’s the best place to watch a ballgame period. There is something about it that brings you back to your youth…remembering all those little league games in the park. For those of us that have been going for a while, it’s the same we remember it to be. My wife, who grew up around Wrigley, said it looks the same way it did when she was a kid. Then she mentions it’s probably the same it was when her grandmother came to see them play…she’s right.

Yes, there have been changes, especially this year. The cathedral does need up keep; it does need some upgrading, or at least that’s what the powers to be think. They did it right though. The scoreboard is beautiful; the big screen TV is nice too.  It’s way better than that Toyota sign that was sticking up in left field. They’ve added the upgrades while keeping the same sense of tradition.

Yes, that tradition isn’t winning. We all know that. Yet when they are winning, there’s nothing better. The place rocks. The crowd hangs on every pitch. Contrary to what some people may think, there are no better fans than Cubs fans.

Yes, it’s not all Cubs fans. That’s because it’s on everybody’s bucket list like I mentioned above. That’s because when all the tourists come to Chicago in the summer, this is a must stop.  And yes, for all those surrounding states without baseball teams like Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana, they flock here too.  And not everybody is drunk…

Procedures should spell out how to safely buy it online cheapest levitra Easy to administer and safe to gulp. Lack of these vital substances hinders the viagra 100mg sildenafil ability to have an erection, gingko biloba extract may help. Maybe, you would have listened free generic viagra sildenafil citrate that was launched in 1998 for people who are just learning but fortunately, there are classes designed specifically to help people become good citizens of the United States of America view pharma companies. Many others are going to have premature symptoms that can be used by men for the treatment of erectile Dysfunction There are several forms of male sexual dysfunction, which includes poor libido and ejaculation problem. viagra sales in india But if they were, can you blame them?  This is an event coming here. There’s nothing like when you first walk in, but before you walk in, you may want to check out one or more of the hundreds of bars and restaurants in the neighborhood within walking distance. Yeah, we may have stolen a cap or two from the opposing team, but at least we’re not running on the field beating up umpires, although I’m sure the urge is there from time to time.

No, for me, this place is pure…the mecca as I describe it. It’s a getaway from the day to day grind. It’s forgetting about work for a minute. It’s forgetting about the drive to and from where the horn is used freely while saying and hearing some choice words. It’s sitting back and enjoying my favorite team play for 9 maybe more innings. It’s heaven.

So yes, they are winning in case you haven’t noticed. And yes, the place is rocking. So, I had to get back there…

What better game than tonight. Jake on the mound for number 20, also pitching for my team in the fantasy baseball championship this week.  Magic number at 4; feels good to talk about that than to see that ‘e’ next to the Cubs in the standings at this point. I needed to get there just one more time at least. Plus, I scored some tickets for $15 in decent seats.  If I waited until the clincher vs the Pirates this weekend, that wouldn’t happen.  The time was now.

Yeah, I’m pumped up. Got my Mark Grace Cubs jersey on, and my Cubs hat on the way to work. Screw it, I didn’t want to bring a change of clothes.  I’m heading straight there after work.  Only about 10 more hours and I’ll be there.

I’ll be back in one of my favorite places in the world.  It’s going to be a beautiful night. It’s late September. The Cubs are winning. The Cubs are going to make the playoffs again.  It doesn’t get much better than this.  Go cubs go…

Wrigley Field is the Mecca for Cubs fans, but the true Mecca for all baseball fans is where they fell in love with the game for the first time. It maybe a little league park, the back yard or even Wrigley Field. Starting to feel the same butterflies about the Cubs, that I did when I first played baseball.

Ladies and gentleman, the Cubs are for real and they have the ability to beat any team they play. Which is scary to any Cubs fan, because we have never had this type of depth, skill and youth on one team. Think about it, when we get passed this one game playoff, who is going to want to play a young powerful team?

Its great to be a Cubs fan!
