So you thought this was going to be a rough season??? Well, yeah, you’re probably right. Although after last week, I am holding out some hope for the remaining 15 games.
This hope will pick up in Week 4 vs the Raiders. With the Cardinals this week, and Seabirds next week, it’s one hell of a tough start to the season. The good news is, the schedule gets easier from there out. So, if the Bears are going to make any noise this year, it will be after the bye week type run. Like I said, after last week, I think it is a small possibility.
We didn’t get embarasssed. Let’s just start there. We were well coached. That’s another difference. Yes, we still botched some goal line play calls, which cost us the game in my opinion, but overall, we held our own. Yes, Green Bay is not at their best right now, but nobody is, including us. After last year’s embarassment, I was looking for a brown bag to put over my head; it was one of the worst moments as a Bears fan. I feel 110% better after this loss.
Yet, it’s still a loss, and that’s the bottom line. 0-1 is our record heading into this week’s matchup against the Cards. The good news is that we are at home again. The bad news is the Cardinals are pretty damn good; they are a better team than us. But, in this NFL, it’s a week to week thing. Any team could beat any team on any given Sunday. That’s why they play the games.
I see this being an easy Arizona victory. Their defense is better than the Packers, and with our banged up WR corps, they will do a better job limiting Forte… something the Pack was unable to do. That means more throws to Cutler to the no name WRs. Yes, Jeffery did play, but you could tell he was limited. The quicker he can get to 100%, the better it will be for us. We may have to wait a few more weeks for that. Bennett could be a nice sleeper this week; I thought he’d get more targets last week. Still, scoring points may be a little harder.
At least we’re not facing Rodgers again. Carson Palmer isn’t as good, but he still is very good. I remember him back in the day at Cincy with OchoCinco and TJ… I thought he was going to lead them to a Super Bowl until he messed up his knee against Pittsburgh in the playoffs. Last year, similar type deal with the Cardinals; he went down, and so did Arizona’s hope of advancing in the playoffs. Well, he’s back, and will at least be healthy for the start of this one. He is older, but he still can fling that ball around, and he has weapons too, even with Ellington out. They will score some points, especially if we can’t get one lick of pressure on him like last week vs Rodgers. I think a turnover or two is a must if we’d like to win this game. I’m just not that sure we can make that happen. I haven’t seen any evidence yet, but hey, it’s only week 2!

Well, it’s not any longer, although we can still count on Robbie Gould who was perfect last week. We will need him to continue to be top notch as we try to outperform our low expectations this year.

Hopefully I’m wrong… I don’t like being wrong, but in this case, and every time I predict a loss for the Bears this year, I hope I am. I was wrong last week when I thought they could pull it out… and at least cover that TD spread. It was closer than everybody thought in both cases. Let’s hope my wrong streak continues here. GO BEARS!

Liked what I saw last week. Think the Bears win this game behind a big effort from jay, 320 yards and 3 td’s with no turnovers.
