Hey, did you know the Sox won 7 in a row? You’d think that would be big news, but when I checked espn Chicago, that was not one of the top stories.

Why is it like that with the Sox?  Why are they treated as 2nd class citizens in their own city?  Winning 7 games in a row is a big deal.  Yes, they’re not quite .500 yet, but still.  Plus, this is the year that they are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their World Series. Remember, they have a World Series victory in our lifetime.  Why does it still not matter?

Any story on the Cubs trumps anything going on with the Sox.  That is a fact.  It’s not my opinion.  I don’t choose what to publish on these websites.  I don’t necessarily agree with it.  Come on already, show the Sox some love.  Even I’m showing them a little love here and there.  Although it is true, that for me anything Cubs related trumps the Sox.

Yet, why is it that offseason Bears, Bulls, or Blackhawks trump the Sox, a team in season?  OK, yes, we are a Bears city at heart, and everything for them at any time of the season is news.  I don’t necessarily agree with that either.  I love the Bears and NFL football just as much as the next guy, but it is a little much at times, and then you throw their recent performance in there with a QB that I can’t stand, and yes, it’s not high on the priority list right now.  The Blackhawks I get nowadays.  They went from an afterthought to almost as big as the Bears… yeah, I said almost.  Even that is crazy.  Here is a team who has won 3 cups in the last 6 years.  Anything that happens with them should be big news… and it is finally like that.  The Bulls are given some pub too in the offseason, but not nearly as much as the Bears, and now, the Blackhawks.  I guess that makes sense.

Still, what did the Sox do to get no love?  It’s not just a national thing, or on a local website run by a national organization, it’s with the Sox fans themselves too.  It’s just not that important to them to go to a game and support their team.  The Cell isn’t that bad, actually, they have made it pretty nice.  I remember the first game ever there… that stadium was truly like a cell; I thought they had a great opportunity with a new stadium, and fell short.  But since then, the renovations… it’s pretty decent.  Doesn’t stack up to Wrigley, but nothing does.  The only thing that sucks now is the parking situation.  Unless you’re calling up your buddy in Bridgeport to get a parking pass, you’re going to have to walk a ways to get to the game.  That permit stuff is everywhere, and parking in the lot… ugh.. that’s a lot of money. Even around Wrigley, you can find some parking on the street.  During day games, it’s not a problem at all.

Anyways, I’m not that upset about it all, because the Sox aren’t my team… the Cubs are.  So I’m not caring that much.  But, if it was my team, I’d be a little pissed.  But maybe Sox fans are just used to it.  As they say, it is what it is.
