January 6, 2025: Give Me A Minute

You’re going to have to give me a minute; I’m not done talking about this Bears game yet. Let me bask in my glory for just a little bit longer. How about that punt return? I remember one back in the day, I think it was against the Packers if I’m not mistaken, that got called back due to a penalty; I was hoping there were no flags on this one. How does that happen? I’ve never had to cover a punt in my life, but… don’t you have to locate the ball? Secondly, I don’t believe DJ Moore has returned a kick in his life, at least not this year with us; doesn’t someone identify that and say “hey, wait a minute?” The Packers are such a stupid, stupid franchise. I remember a couple years ago when their special teams cost them a playoff game, the one where Robbie kicked the game winner, the blocked punt earlier… that was sweet. Such a great drafting franchise, or so we’re told, back to back HOF QBs, above average coaches, and they just can’t get the special teams right? Sorry ass bums.

And then, the Peanut Punch; does Tillman belong in the Hall of Fame? At the very least, his move has to be enshrined. Jaylon Johnson executed that to perfection, setting up the Bears for their 2nd TD. For a while, it felt like the Super Bowl runner ups… only scoring on special teams and defense. Our offense couldn’t do jack shit, but yet we were winning the game. So much for this dark horse contending playoff team the Packers, who by the way, went 1-5 within the division…. just like us. Overrated mofos… and that label goes for Jordan Love too, who watched from the sidelines for a lot of this one. Back to all-pro Jaylon Johnson for a minute, who I couldn’t believe let his guy catch that prayer of a pass by Malik Willis. It was pretty nice of him to kneel by Christian Walker when he had his non-contact injury. That’s a class move, something the Packers are unfamiliar with.

I was watching the entire game, hoping it would finish before we had to leave for my son’s basketball game. The Bears were supposed to run the clock out, or at least try to, when they threw a screen pass to DJ Moore, who promptly fumbled it. I absolutely hate that play; it worked 1 out of 10 times in this one. This is like the Bears specialty??? Please don’t run that shit. Maybe once every couple weeks? When DJ fumbled the ball, I turned the TV off; I can’t believe this shit. Again? They weren’t going to move the ball down the field, so we give it to them on a platter. I put my shoes and jacket on, about to head out the door, when I turned it back on my phone; I can’t quit these guys. I turned it on in time to watch the Packers nail the go ahead FG; beautiful. But hey, we had 50 or so seconds left… As we got in the car, thankfully my wife was driving, so I could sit on my phone watching the end of the game. When Caleb completed it to Rome, perfect; when he threw the last pass to DJ, I was yelling, hurry, hurry… they did, and spiked it just in time. Now Cairo… redemption time. Bam.

It wasn’t quite like the Cubs 2016 World Series win that wiped away years of pain and agony, but to a lesser degree (much lesser), it felt like I was refreshed; I felt like a new man… haha. The horrible season worth it? Not just for this one win, but for the realization that Caleb could be the guy? How many horrible seasons must we sacrifice until we finally sprinkle in a good one? How about a bunch of those? Is it time? First thing’s first. Go Eagles…
