Our week in DC wrapped up on Friday; it was a blast. I love, love going on vacation; who doesn’t? However, I also love coming back home; this is the sweet part about it. Always feels great to getaway, but to look forward to getting back to our home in Chicago, that’s the nuts man. OK, where we going next? Haha..

The Washington Monument was one of my favorite things. Yes, I know, the most touristy thing to say, but… it’s true. It right there, smack dab in the middle of everything; you can see it poking its head out wherever you go in DC. We were even able to see it out of the window of our hotel room. However, when you walk up to it, and touch it, and look straight up… impressive. I enjoyed all the monuments, including Lincoln, Jefferson, and MLK; they were all very cool. Of course, we got a glimpse of the White House, or Casa de Trump as my son and I messed with my wife… haha. Didn’t get a great look, because of the planning for the inauguration coming up soon. Seeing the Capitol was pretty nice too. The two tours we took, both in the Ford Theater and the National Air & Space Museum were top notch. Looking over at the box where Lincoln was killed… just wow. Hearing about the Wright Brothers and all of the space expeditions, very awesome. There’s just so much to see; definitely need more time.

Our walk through Georgetown was very enjoyable, especially considering the spring-like weather. Our trip down to Alexandria, VA for New Year’s eve and the fireworks over the Potomac River, was memorable. The Bulls game, well, at least we checked a stadium off our list. Am I missing anything? We stood right by George Washington University; that was nice. The public transportation system was impressive. Now that we kind of know our way around DC, and since we did enjoy it, maybe we’ll be back at some point. My son will definitely be back, next year, for his 8th grade class trip; 8th grade… good God. Yeah, our 7th grader still has fun with his Mom and Dad on vacation; that’s pretty cool. Although he didn’t mind when we were relaxing back in the room, and he was enjoying time on his phone… haha. Overall, a very highly rated vacation IMO, and a great way to kickoff 2025.

Now, it’s homeward bound… back home, back to Chicago, and yes, back to reality. Again, the nice thing about our reality, although it may be busy, stressful, and all that, is that it’s pretty damn good; for this, I couldn’t be more thankful. Now how about my teams? When are they going to get their acts together? This upcoming weekend presents some great opportunities to turn this ship around with the Rose game for the Bulls and the Packers to end the season for the Bears. Glad I’m finally almost caught back up…
