When you get into the fantasy football playoffs, the roster decisions you make become magnified. You’re making the decisions all year long, week to week, and sure, sometimes those stick out, but it happens; it’s inevitable. You WILL make the wrong start-sit decision, multiple times throughout the year; you will also make the right decision multiple times throughout the year. It’s a mixed bag. In the playoffs, there is no mixed bag. It’s either you got it or you blew it. If your roster is good enough, maybe you just set on auto pilot; go with the horses that got you there. There is some truth to this, BUT there’s also what have you done for me lately; there’s also matchups that need to be considered, motivations for the NFL teams to take into account. There are an endless amount of angles to review before setting your final roster for the playoffs. I went through this 3x for the 3 title games that I was in; I know… poor me right? Haha…
I made some bad decisions; some of them hurt me, some of them didn’t. Let’s start with the family league. Again, I already have Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins in the bank from Saturday’s game, and the Pittsburgh defense, my first bad decision, in the bank from Christmas. AJ Brown seemed like a safe play; he did OK. Now, it was time to make some decisions. How about JSN from Thursday night? He had been on a roll, I decided to keep him in my lineup; he sucked. I wasn’t happy with my RB situation; I wasn’t going to start Pacheco…. good call. I was rolling with Breece Hall; he sucked. My other RB… I chose Jerome Ford over Spears; bad call… he got knocked out early with an injury; another Tony Romo situation? Time will tell. At TE, I had LaPorta, but he hadn’t done crap for me, so… I went to the wire and picked up Okonkwo; I also left Kincaid on my bench. Well, my pickup did OK, but LaPorta would do better. My kicker McLaughlin did good; that’s a plus.
As the dust settled Sunday afternoon, I was trailing by 0.6 points heading into Sunday night; he had nobody left. I had McLaurin. Money in the bank right? Well, he caught exactly 1 ball for 5 yards, which netted me 1.5 points, which gave me the fantasy title by less than a point. It’s crazy how this stuff works out sometimes. Jennings and Jameson Williams would have given me more comfortable wins, but a win is a win is a win. My first title was official. It didn’t earn me any cheddar, but the pride and bragging rights in the family league are all that matters. There will be a trophy purchased soon, that will feature all the winners in the family baseball and football league over the years. I will be the first to have 2 football titles, along with my 1 baseball title. In this league, I truly am, a Fantasy Legend… haha. What about the money leagues?
